While under this label, three of their albums have charted at number one in the UK, including Emergency on Planet Earth (1993), Synkronized (1999) and A Funk Odyssey (2001). The band's 1998 single, "Deeper Underground", was also number one in their native country.

Music of the Mind
Jamiroquai Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I never know which way to turn,
There's a friend I see, oh yeah,
Who believes in me.
He is all I have,
Oh put your hand away
And bring it out
If I listen hard, if I listen hard now,
I can hear him say
I know somewhere we can go,
So much better.
Oh the music in my mind,
Oh now the music in my mind,
I know somewhere we can go,
So much better.
Oh the music in my mind!
The music in my mind yeah.
I can take you there
I can take you there
Oh now
I wanna say that I can take you there
"Music of the Mind" by Jamiroquai is a soulful song that delves into the idea of finding a source of support in times of despair. The lyrics are from the perspective of someone who is lost and doesn't know where to turn for inspiration. The individual finds a friend who believes in them and gives them hope. The song talks about the idea of seeking refuge in our minds and the power of music to uplift us.
The opening lines "When it gets too bad, And I never know which way to turn," suggest that the singer is struggling with some form of difficulty - be it emotional or mental, and is unsure of the way forward. The reference to a friend who believes in them is used metaphorically to explain that the singer is searching for one's inner strength, which serves as a friend to them giving hope and pushing them towards progress. The lines "If I listen hard, if I listen hard now, I can hear him say I know somewhere we can go, So much better," implies that sometimes, all that we need to do is listen closely to our intuition to find a way forward.
Overall, "Music of the Mind" by Jamiroquai is a song about finding hope and solace in one's mind - through inner strength and musical inspiration. It speaks to the power of positive thinking and how finding a source of support can help us move towards progress.

When it gets too bad,
When things become overwhelming
And I never know which way to turn,
And I'm uncertain about what to do
There's a friend I see, oh yeah,
There's a friend I envision in my head
Who believes in me.
Who has faith in me and encourages me
He is all I have,
This imaginary friend is my sole support
Oh put your hand away
Ignore the gestures you see me making
And bring it out
But at another time, be willing to listen
Another day.
On some other occasion
If I listen hard, if I listen hard now,
If I focus my mind and try to hear
I can hear him say
I can make out what he's telling me
I know somewhere we can go,
I imagine a place where things are better
So much better.
Vastly improved compared to how things currently are
Oh the music in my mind,
There's a melody playing in my head
Oh now the music in my mind,
It's there even now
I know somewhere we can go,
I still believe in this imaginary place
So much better.
And it's still much better than things presently are
Oh the music in my mind!
This melody repeating in my head
The music in my mind yeah.
Is the only comfort I have right now
I can take you there
I can take you to this imaginary place too
I can take you there
I can help you escape to a better place
Oh now
I wanna say that I can take you there
I'm eager to offer you an escape

I'm here for the bass guitar. Man...this song is so necessary. I have probably commented on here already but I don't care. That's how good this song is to me. One of my all time favorite.
