I Come Undone
Jennifer Rush Lyrics

Bleeds.
I can't get you out of my life. Here is my
Confession: you're all I need; I don't want to
Love you, but, oh, oh, oh,
With the touch of your hand, I come undone.
With the flash of your burning eyes I know
That you're the only one. I come... I come
Your footsteps are heartbeats. There's
Knocking on my door.
I swore that I won't let you in.
Love's got its heroes, but I know that I just
Can't hold out forever, and, oh, oh, oh,
With the touch of your hand, I come undone.
With the flash of your burning eyes I know
That you're the only one. I come... I come
Undone. I come undone.
Don't know what you're doing to me, 'cause
When your arms reach out I'm gone.
Here is my confession:
You're all I need; I don't want to
Love you, but, oh, oh, oh,
With the touch of your hand, I come undone.
With the flash of your burning eyes I know
That you're the only one. I come... I come
Undone. I come undone.
The lyrics of Jennifer Rush's I Come Undone paint the picture of a person torn between their desire for someone and their reluctance to fall in love once again. Time has passed since they were wounded, but their heart still bleeds. The singer makes a confession that the person they're talking to is all they need, but they don't want to love them. However, they come undone at the touch of their hand and the flash of their burning eyes.
The use of imagery in the song is quite profound. The singer mentions that their footsteps are like heartbeats and that every knock on the door feels like an opportunity for the lover to enter their life once more. Furthermore, the singer acknowledges that they can't be heroes in love, and they know that they can't hold out forever. This line conveys a sense of defeat, as if the singer is giving up and succumbing to the feeling of love.
Overall, the song speaks to the struggle of falling in love once again after experiencing heartbreak. It speaks to the internal conflict that arises when someone wants to love someone but is afraid of getting hurt. The lyrics are relatable, and it's no wonder the song became widely popular.

I’m 84 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle.
But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian.
She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John and Brian May—sorry—Sir Brian May, Michael Bolton, and performed live all over the world—but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it.
Why is she the best? Effortless high range: (look at Celine’s cover with Jennifer singing “Power of Love” to see the ease with which Jennifer handles the highest notes.) Listen to “Who Wants to Live Forever” (with or without Brian—Sir Brian—May) as well as “Stronghold”, “Another Way”, “Hero of a Fool”, “I come Undone” and many more.
With her operatic training (her father, Maurice Stern (Mauro Lampi) and step-mother Rita Loving) she developed a superior vibrato, appropriate body language, and perfect interpretation, and because she wrote or co-wrote most of her songs, she injects them with a personal load of musical endorphins that hit your ears and your heart at the same time.
Yes. If Jennifer had decided to live her life in the US, she would still be in Las Vegas or on tour.
