For Today
Jessica Lea Mayfield Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was walking with your left hand in my back pocket
And I stared at the sky while you kissed me
And you were running away, away from everything
And I stayed behind so you'd miss me
And all these words would sound so sweet
I could care less about you

Care less about you
And I love the sound of you walking away
And I can see clearer and I'm getting closer
To finding out to just who I am without you in the way

So hold me
But only for today
In spite my best ambitions

Getting in the worst situations
But here I am crystal clean

She's amazing! She has soul and substance. I haven't felt this way about an artist in quite some time. Heard her on Father's Day on PHC while driving in the middle of nowhere Alaska. Thank you, Garrison K.!

I was listening to The Avett Brothers singing this and found out it was a cover. Now I hear the original...it's great. I enjoy it as much as theirs.

Christopher of the Stubbs family I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you. The dorko brothers couldn’t write songs like this if their lives depended on it. Don’t make me laugh.

C Stubbs

The Avett Brothers version is far superior.

This song gets me everytime

got her blasphemy album and really didn't like it. this is what i like about her, just the acoustic guitar and her voice. none of the drums, electric guitar, bass, all the junk that takes away from the tiny inflections in her voice that create real emotion.
