At the age of eighteen, he marked his film debut in the sound department with the picture "The Treasure of the Jamaica Reef" (1975). It would be his pairing with Richard Band which led to steadier work on such films as "Auditions" (1978) and "Laserblast" (1978). After several years of lesser features, Goldsmith collaborated with his father on the first instalment of the "Star Trek" film series "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979) and was rewarded with the Steve Martin comedy "The Man with Two Brains" (1983). In addition to rejoining forces with his father on "Star Trek: First Contact" (1996), he saw his greatest accomplishments on television as he complied credits with "The Untouchables" (1993 to 1994), "Hawkeye" (1994 to 1995) and "Diagnosis Murder" (1998 to 1999). He garnered three Emmy Award nominations with the "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis" TV series. He died following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Goldsmith came from a musical family. He is the son of renowned composer Jerry Goldsmith, and his uncle (mother's brother) was composer and professor Michael Hennagin.

This video is so liberated. There is a difference between Violence and Self Defense. At the Oscars, that was violence, and could've been handled differently. When Wesley slapped the other kid, he deserved it... The kid was being a nuisance not allowing Wesley to access his locker, putting hands all over him, and just being rude verbally. Honestly, Wesley reacting to the bully wasn't imitating his dad in any way. Like it's just some defend mechanism (hell, Ben would've gotten worse than a slap) and Ben had literally no reason to start pushing him against the locker. Plus, it would be interesting if the video had tried to go in depth on Ben's family life since he can also learn the lesson that "violence is not the answer" and that they can have Wesley call him out for using bullying as a form of projection.

Would be interesting if like they can drag out some time just to allow Ben to actually grow as a character alongside Wesley as opposed to a sudden morality shift because he was given new shoes.

Also, the slap could literally be replaced with any other event that the message can be applied to more reasonably as opposed to trying to mimic a real life event.

as someone who got bullied her whole childhood & teenage hood, violence is the solution when it comes to certain situations. for exemple, when i tried to defend myself with words, it just got worse and worse. people wouldn’t learn. i never believed in violence when i was younger. i always used my words and it never stopped. one time, i got tired of all the bullying, and only slapping the hell of that bully in the face made her learn… it was that specific time she stopped bullying me. some people only learn with violence…

I get bullied all the time and to be honest, I really wanted to get violent and sometimes I did even if I knew I wasn't supposed to. Even if i told someone and they did something about it they would keep doing it. At the time I really, REALLY wanted to beat the heck out of all of them, but I now don't and I haven't for a long time, even if its hard, so I know how you feel about getting bullied and I'm sorry you had to go through all that

The principal or teachers should not take sides as much as possible before the result of investigation is done. I don't like those kind of school principal. Just like my math teacher in elementary. He never asked me why I'm not helping on cleaning our classroom. He didn't know that the doctor forbidden me to expose myself to dust due to my asthma. He humilated me for not helping my classmates and our leader in cleaning schedule even rediculed me right infront of that mean teacher. And that made me hate schooling. I rather have a personal tutor. If my parents had just accepted that I'm not for normal school, I'm maybe successful in life. Until now, I'm still struggling for at least appreciation of others toward me. I'm so afraid of rejection.

I know where you're coming from. If I didn't defend myself in Jr high and High School I wouldn't be here today. Or alive with mental scares. My dad taught me how to defend myself. Just enough to wound someone and get away. I defended the kids that needed help before Jr high. But it didn't get serious until Jr high. These were just baby fights anyway. But there's a moral to the story. I'm glad he defended himself.
