After their first two record deals, the band eventually had an identity crisis, “We had bad promotion, a bad record release—bad everything,” recalls Congé. And without ever really taking off, they crashed—and out of those ashes rose the band Savages, which was the brainchild of guitarist Gemma Thompson, who played with John and Jehn. Jehnny became their lead singer, and Johnny stayed on as their producer; with his darkly quiet sound as a solo artist was integral to the band’s development.
Although still together, and not officially defunct as John & Jehn, both spend most of their current time on their other projects.

Up above
Better call
Me later when it's all okay
Oh Lord
I feel like
I've observed it all
Still it makes me feel
Missed another switch of gears
Stuck with all that's missing here
Bitter games
You know the deal
Not enough show appeal
Not enough known what's real
Like I could sit upon a mountaintop
And visit all that I forgot
But that's not working
My legs start hurting
Fearless person
In fear of hurting
In fear of living
In fear of life
I've been looking for a reason why
And I fall
Up above
Better call
Me later when it's all okay
Oh Lord
I feel like
I've observed it all
Still it makes me feel
Like I wanna disappear
Missed another switch of gears
Stuck with all that's missing here
And you probably think that I forgot
How I left you rot like that
No I didn't
But I do not see a reason why
I should put me through that image twice
But Purple Hearts they do imagine
How a fucking joke could end it
I don't know that's how my live works out
I'm the one that's always left in doubt
So I go through all these fucking drugs
Hoping they could make me fall upon
That mountain of fucks
That I've giving 'bout all of the things
That you said of my existence of course
Nourishment for the soul
All the buttons seems out of control
I've been so numb that I rose
Into the grave
I always hoped for
And I fall
Up above
Better call
Me later when it's all okay
Oh Lord
I feel like
I've observed it all
Still it makes me feel
Like I wanna disappear
And I fall
Denim Heart
Get 'em
Do they
Wanna share it
In case they
Do not remember
All this temper
Fucking end it
I've been so worthless
Oh Lord
I feel like
I've observed it all
Still it makes me feel
Like I wanna disappear
Missed another switch of gears
Stuck with all that's missing here
Denim Heart
Get 'em
Do they
Wanna share it
In case they
Do not remember
All this temper
Fucking end it
I've been so worthless
Denim Heart
Get 'em
Do they
Wanna share it
In case they
Do not remember
All this temper
Fucking end it
I've been so worthless
Oh Lord
In John & Jehn's song "The Fall", the singer is reading a letter from their significant other that has brought them to tears. The letter is full of broken promises and lies, causing the singer to turn their ex's photograph to face the wall. The chorus repeatedly mentions the tears that the singer cannot hide and would rather keep deep down inside, symbolizing the sadness and heartbreak they are experiencing. The final verse shows the singer praying for their ex to make things right, hoping for a call that may never come. The repetition of the chorus highlights the recurring pain and sadness the singer feels, even when they try to push it away in the dark of their room.
The lyrics can be interpreted in different ways depending on the individual's experience. The message of the song is relatable to anyone who has experienced heartbreak and loss in a relationship. The repetition of the word "tears" and the imagery of "dimming the lights" creates a sense of a lonely and desolate atmosphere. The song portrays the grittiness and raw emotions of someone going through a heart-wrenching experience.

I read your letter, darlin'
I received your letter, my love
Tears filled my eyes
I cried
All of the promises you made Were nothing but lies
You broke all the promises you made and they were lies
So I turned your photograph over Face to the wall
I turned your picture over facing it towards the wall
Teardrops will fall
I will cry
Tears I can't hide
I can't hide my tears
Tears that I'd rather keep Deep down inside
I'd rather keep the tears deep down inside me
And love is gone beyond these walls
Love has gone beyond these walls
I'm gonna pray tonight, baby Hopin' you will hear

And maybe you'll write all those wrongs And dry each tear
And maybe you'll make things right and wipe away my tears
I sit alone tonight Hopin' you will call

When I dim the lights in my room tonight Teardrops will fall
When I turn off the lights in my room tonight, I will cry
