Rock 'N Roll Girl
John Fogerty Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes I think
Life is just a rodeo
The trick is to ride
And make it to the bell

But there is a place
Sweet as you will ever know
In music and love
And things you never tell

You see it in their face
Secrets on the telephone
A time out of time
For you and no one else

Hey let's go
All over the world
Rock and roll girls
Rock and roll girls

If I had my way
I'd shuffle off to Buffalo
Sit by the lake
And watch the world go by

Ladies in the sun
Listenin' to the radio
Like flowers on the sand
A rainbow in my mind

Hey let's go
All over the world

Rock and roll girls
Rock and roll girls

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of John Fogerty's "Rock and Roll Girls" paint a vivid picture of the joys of love and music. The opening lines capture the essence of life as a rodeo: a wild and unpredictable ride that is all about staying on and making it to the end. The trick, then, is not just to survive but to thrive, and this is where music and love come in.

Fogerty describes a world that is sweet, magical, and secret. It's a place where people share their deepest thoughts and feelings, where they come alive and connect in ways that are exhilarating and fulfilling. This is the world of rock and roll girls: young women who are free-spirited, adventurous, and unafraid to take risks. Whether they are listening to the radio on the beach or dancing at a concert, they embody the spirit of rock and roll and all it stands for.

The chorus is an invitation to join this world, to explore it and revel in its pleasures. Fogerty imagines traveling all over the world, meeting all kinds of rock and roll girls and experiencing the thrill of the music with them. It's a romantic and hopeful vision, one that celebrates the power of human connection and the joy of living in the moment.

Overall, "Rock and Roll Girls" is a song about the transformative power of music and love. It's a tribute to the young women who embrace these things and a call to join them in a journey that is full of life and energy.

I believe John Fogerty is the only artist to have won a Grammy in the 60's,70's,80's and 90's. Real talent.

@drewmansager3377

True??

@willyjames8300

@Bryant Sayers You know Bryant I heard that one time. I just did some research and it was hard to verify. The one thing you have to remember is they give Grammy's out for everything. Production, writing, best this best that. One thing I do know is has had a Remarkable career which has now spanned almost 60 years. If I find out something more I'll write back.
