I´ll Never Get Over You
Johnny Kidd Lyrics

No, I'll never get over you
I just can't keep it a secret anymore
Oh, no, no
It wasn't so long ago
That you told me you loved me so
Then you went and said goodbye
I know, somewhere, someday, I'll find
One love to take your place
One girl with an angel ace
But in the meantime
I'll never get over you
No I'll never get over you
I just can't keep it a secret anymore
Oh, no, no
I know, somewhere, someday, I'll find
One love to take your place
One girl with an angel face
But in the meantime
I'll never get over you
No I'll never get over you
I just can't keep it a secret anymore
Oh, no, no, no
Oh, no, no, no
The song "I'll Never Get Over You" by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates is a classic heartbreak ballad that expresses the songwriter's inability to move on from a past love. The lyrics convey a sense of heartache and resignation as the singer acknowledges that despite his best efforts, he will never be able to forget the person who broke his heart.
The song starts off with the singer proclaiming that he will "never get over" his former lover. He repeats this sentiment throughout the song, emphasizing the depth of his pain and sorrow. The chorus, which is repeated several times, features the line "I just can't keep it a secret anymore," suggesting that the singer has been trying to hide his emotions but can no longer do so.
The second verse provides some backstory to the singer's situation, revealing that his former lover had told him she loved him before leaving him for another man. The singer expresses a sense of betrayal and hurt as he recounts this memory.

The Pirates were massively influencial in London in 1961-64. That style of playing a three piece was so new for us players brought up on The Shadows and The Tremeloes - lead, rhythm, bass drums - then the Pirates dropped that second guitar. Such a clean rocking sound. We all started to copy their guitarist - The Who played as a warm up band for them in 62 I think it was, and I know it influenced Pete Townshend. And Ron Wood - and most of the guitarists that frequented Jim Marshal's in Hanwell.
