Born in Houston, Texas, Nash began as a pop singer in the 1950s. He became famous for singing the theme song for The Mighty Hercules cartoon in the early 1960s (which song he also wrote). His biggest hits were the early reggae tunes Hold Me Tight, I Can See Clearly Now, and Stir It Up, written by Bob Marley prior to Marley's international success.
Nash was last active as a composer in the Swedish romance Vill sΓ₯ gΓ€rna tro (1971) in which he portrayed Robert. For many years he seemed to have dropped out of sight; however, in May 2006 he was singing again at SugarHill Recording Studio in his native Houston.
Ooh What A Feeling
Johnny Nash Lyrics

On a hill from a flower shop
But you're something to me
You're my heart's desire
Someone kind has planted
You on this sun shiny
Hill green as you can
Flower flower
Why are you so
Pretty (pretty)
Flower flower
On a hill
You are the
Prettiest
Someone kind has planted
You on this sun shiny
Hill green as you can
Imagine perfict for you
It's getting dark
I have to go see
You tomorrow
The opening lines of Johnny Nash's song "Ooh What A Feeling" speak of a flower that he has chanced upon while walking in a hillside flower shop. While Nash acknowledges that the flower may be considered as nothing but a simple object, to him, it holds much significance. In the next line, he reveals that the flower is his heart's desire. The idea is that the flower is symbolic of something or someone Nash yearns for. He sees the beauty in the simple things, and in the flower, he has found something pure, lovely, and worth cherishing. The song's overall theme is about finding beauty in the simplest things and recognizing that true happiness is within reach if one only looks close enough.
As the song progresses, Nash repeats the phrase "flower, flower" to emphasize his admiration for the beauty he has discovered. He talks about how the flower's pristine surroundings are perfect for it and how it stands out among the other flowers. Nash is transfixed by the flower's beauty, and as the sun begins to set, he reluctantly leaves, promising to return the next day. The song ends with the promise of the beauty and the hope of returning to it the next day.
Overall, "Ooh What A Feeling" is a poetic tribute to the beauty of nature and the wonder that is all around us if we take the time to look. The flower in the song represents not only beauty but also hope and the possibility of finding happiness in life's simplest things.
