You're cold
You go around
Like you know
Who I am
But you don't
You've got me on
My toes (toes, toes)
I'm slippin' into the lava
And I'm tryna keep from goin' under
Baby, who turned the temperature hotter?
'Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Come on girl
I fell (I fell)
So fast (so fast)
Cant hold myself back (back, back)
High heels (high heels)
Red dress (red dress)
All by yourself
Gotta catch my breath
I'm slippin' into the lava
And I'm tryna keep from goin' under
Baby, who turned the temperature hotter?
'Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Walk in the room
All I can see is you
Oh
Starin' me down
I know you feel it too
I'm slippin' into the lava
And I'ma try to keep from goin under
Baby, who turned the temperature hotter?
'Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Slippin' into the lava
And I'm tryin' to keep from goin' under
Baby, who turned the temperature hotter?
'Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Burnin' up in the place tonight
And the brothers singin' loud (and were feelin' right)
Get up and dance (don't try to fight it)
Big Robs for real (and that's no lie)
Stop, drop and roll (and touch the floor, to keep from burnin' up)
More and more
I got JB with me (layin' it down)
Come on boys bring the chorus around
I'm slippin' into the lava (burnin' up, burnin' up)
And I'm tryin' to keep from goin' under (yeah)
Baby, who turned the temperature hotter (come on nick)
'Cause I'm burnin' up
Burnin' up for you baby
Burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
"Burnin' Up" is a song by the Jonas Brothers that talks about a man who is feeling the heat because of a woman he has fallen for. The first verse of the song talks about how the girl is always hot, while the man is cold, and she is unaware of his feelings. The chorus is where the man confesses his feelings to the woman, indicating how he is slipping into the lava and is trying hard to keep from going under, as he is burning up for her.
The second verse reveals how the man is physically attracted to the woman, as he fell for her very fast, but he cannot hold himself back, as she is all by herself. When he walks into the room, all he can see is the girl, and he realizes she feels the same way. The chorus is repeated three times in the song, emphasizing how the man is burning up, and he wants the woman to know how he feels.
The song's overall theme about a man's unrequited love for a woman encapsulates the struggle and pain that many people go through in their lives while chasing unrequited love. It also highlights the notion of trying to keep emotions under control when in love with someone, and how it can feel as if you are burning up inside.
