You're cold
You go around
Like you know
Who I am
But you don't
You've got me on
My toes (toes, toes)
I'm slipping into the lava
And I'm trying to keep from going under
Baby you turn the temperature hotter
Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Come on girl
I fell (I fell)
So fast (so fast)
Cant hold myself back (back, back)
High heels (high heels)
Red dress (red dress)
All by yourself
Gotta catch my breath
I'm slipping into the lava
And I'm trying to keep from goin' under
Baby who turned the temperature hotter
Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Walk in the room
All I can see is you
Oh
Staring me down
I know you feel it too
I'm slipping into the lava
And I'm tryin' to keep from goin under
Baby who turned the temperature hotter
Cuz' I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Slipping into the lava
And I'm trying to keep from going under
Baby who turned the temperature hotter
Cause I'm burnin' up, burnin' up
For you baby
Burnin' up in the place tonight
And the brothers singing loud (and were feelin' right)
Get up and dance (don't try to fight it)
Big robs for real (and that's no lie)
Stop, drop and roll (and touch the floor, to keep from burnin' up)
More and more
I got JB with me (laying it down)
Come on boys bring the chorus around
I'm slipping into the lava (burnin' up, burnin' up)
And I'm trying to keep from going under (yeahhhh)
Baby who turned the temperature hotter (come on nick)
Cause I'm burnin' up
Burnin' up for you baby
Burnin' up,burnin' up
For you baby
The song "Burnin' Up" by Jonas Brothers is a catchy pop track about being head-over-heels in love with someone. The song begins by commenting on the contrasting personalities of the two individuals involved in the relationship, where one is hot and the other is cold. The singer feels like the other person doesn't really know them but has them on their toes nonetheless. The chorus then kicks in with lyrics about feeling the heat of the relationship; they are burning up for the other person and slipping into the lava, trying to keep from going under.
The second verse switches to a more emphatic tone, the singer being completely in love and unable to control themselves. They are falling too fast and are unable to hold back how they feel any longer. The bridge is about how the other person has completely captivated them and consumed their thoughts, feeling like they are staring one another down. The song then culminates with a final chorus in which the singer can't contain themselves, expressing how they are physically burning up and feeling like they are slipping into lava.
Overall, this song portrays a very youthful, energetic, and romantic love story. It is about being completely enamored with someone and feeling consumed by emotions, to the point where they are physically hot and slipping into the lava - a metaphor for possibly getting burned by the intensity of their passion.
