Volare
Joni James Lyrics

And in the hustle and bustle, no sunshine appears
But you and I have our love always there to remind us
There is a way we can leave all the shadows behind us
Volare, oh, oh! Cantare, oh, oh, oh, oh!
Let's fly way up to the clouds, away from the maddening crowds
We can sing in the glow of a star that I know of
Where lovers enjoy peace of mind
Just like birds of a feather a rainbow together we'll find
Volare, oh, oh! Cantare, oh, oh, oh, oh!
No wonder my happy heart sings
Your love has given me wings
Your love has given me wings
The lyrics to Joni James's "Volare" speak to finding solace and escape from the hardships and chaos of the world through the power of love. The opening lines describe the world as a place filled with heartaches and tears, where sunshine is scarce amidst the hustle and bustle. However, the singer emphasizes the strength and constancy of their love as a reminder that there is a way to move past the shadows and difficulties that surround them.
As the lyrics progress, the singer suggests flying high above the troubles and noise of the world, seeking refuge in the serenity and beauty of the clouds. The imagery of singing in the glow of a star symbolizes a place where lovers can find peace and tranquility away from the chaos. It's a dream-like scenario where love serves as a guiding light, leading them towards a place where confusion and disillusionment are left far behind.
The chorus of "Volare" repeats the exuberant declarations of flying and singing, underscoring the freedom and joy that love brings. The singer revels in the happiness and lightness that their partner's love has bestowed upon them, likening it to being given wings that enable them to soar to new heights. This metaphorical imagery suggests that love has the power to lift us above the challenges of life and elevate our spirits, allowing us to experience a sense of liberation and bliss.
The final lines of the song encapsulate the transformative nature of love, likening the bond between the singer and their beloved to birds soaring together in a rainbow-filled sky. The imagery of finding a rainbow together symbolizes the beauty and harmony that love can bring into our lives, uniting us in a shared journey towards happiness and fulfillment. Ultimately, "Volare" conveys a message of hope, resilience, and the transcendent power of love to uplift and inspire us, offering a sense of escape and renewal in the face of life's trials and tribulations.
