Satisfaction
José Feliciano Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm driving in my car, and the man comes on the radio
He's telling me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no. Oh, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm watching my TV and a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me

I can't get no. Oh, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction, I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no

When I'm riding round the world
And I'm doing this and I'm signing that
And I'm trying to make some girl, who tells me
Baby, better come back maybe next week
'Cause you see I'm on a losing streak
I can't get no. Oh, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say. I can't get no, I can't get no

I can't get no satisfaction, no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of José Feliciano's "Satisfaction" describe the singer's inability to find satisfaction or fulfillment in various aspects of his life. The song begins with the repetition of the famous chorus "I can't get no satisfaction", expressing the singer's frustration at his inability to find happiness. He tries and tries to find satisfaction in different areas of his life but fails every time.

The first verse describes the singer's experience of driving in his car and listening to the radio. He hears a man on the radio talking about useless information that is supposed to fire his imagination, but it only leaves him feeling unsatisfied. The second verse speaks of the singer watching TV and seeing a commercial that talks about how white his shirts could be, but he finds himself dissatisfied because the commercial spokesman doesn't smoke the same cigarettes as him. Finally, he describes traveling the world, performing and trying to impress a girl who ultimately rejects him, leaving him once again unsatisfied.

The overall theme of the song is the empty promises and illusions of modern society, represented by the media and other sources of information and entertainment. The singer realizes that he cannot find true satisfaction in these superficial things, and that true fulfillment can only be found within himself.

@natalinabucefalo1202

yessss

@GeriHew

This recording is stereo. The track is from Feliciano's album "Fireworks" which was released in 1970. It was probably still standard practice back then to release LP's in 2 versions - a Mono one and a Stereo one - because a lot of people still only had mono record players. You probably have an original copy of the mono version. I believe you will find that all the Beatles albums were released in both mono and stereo - google it and you will see fans still debate which recordings are the better.
