The band's membership has seen much turnover, including a revolving cast of drummers in the 1970s and the departure of singer Rob Halford in 1992. Tim "Ripper" Owens, formerly of Winter's Bane, replaced Halford in 1996 and recorded two albums with Judas Priest, before Halford returned to the band in 2003. The current line-up consists of Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis. The band's best-selling album is 1982's Screaming for Vengeance, with their most commercially successful line-up featuring Ian Hill, Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, guitarist K. K. Downing, and drummer Dave Holland. Tipton and Hill are the only two members of the band to appear on every album.
Halford's operatic vocal style and the twin guitar sound of Downing and Tipton have been a major influence on heavy metal bands. Judas Priest's image of leather, spikes, and other taboo articles of clothing were widely influential during the glam metal era of the 1980s. The Guardian referred to British Steel as the record that defines heavy metal. Despite a decline in exposure during the mid-1990s, the band has once again seen a resurgence, including worldwide tours, being inaugural inductees into the VH1 Rock Honors in 2006, receiving a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2010, and having their songs featured in video games such as Guitar Hero and the Rock Band series. In 2022, Judas Priest were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The liquor you give stems your will to live and gets right to my brain
Don't you know you're driving me insane?
You're tryin' to find your way through life
You're tryin' to get some new direction
Another woman's got her man
But she won't find no new connection
Things look better when she's through
Take another look around, you're not going anywhere
Realized you're gettin' old and no one seems to care
You're tryin' to find your way again
You're tryin' to get some new
Another woman's got her man
But she won't find a new, oh
Takes another drink or two
Things look better when she's through
You been foolin' with some hot guy
I want to know why is it why
Get up, get out, you know you really blew it
I've had enough, I've had enough, good God, pluck me
Once she was wonderful
Once she was fine
Once she was beautiful
Once she was mine (once she was mine)
Change has come over her body
She doesn't see me anymore
Now change has come over her body
She doesn't see me anymore
Changes
Changes
Changes
Changes
Victim of changes
No, no, no
No
The song "Victim to Changes" by Judas Priest can be interpreted as a cautionary tale about the dangers of alcohol abuse and its effects on relationships. The lyrics focus on a "whiskey woman" who is using alcohol to cope with her problems but is unaware of its negative impact on her life and the life of her partner. The singer is frustrated and feels powerless to help her, as she continues to spiral out of control.
The opening lines of the song set the tone for the rest of the lyrics, with the singer addressing the whiskey woman directly and expressing concern for her well-being. He notes that her drinking is causing her will to live to diminish, and its effects are getting to his brain. The repetition of the phrase "driving me insane" reinforces the idea that the singer is at his wit's end and cannot tolerate the situation any longer.
As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the whiskey woman is struggling to find direction in her life and is constantly searching for something new. However, despite her efforts, she is unable to find fulfillment and is surrounded by other women who are also struggling with relationships. The repetition of the line "takes another drink or two, things look better when she's through" further emphasizes her reliance on alcohol to escape her problems.
The final verse of the song reveals that the singer has had enough of the whiskey woman's behavior and is ready to move on. He accuses her of "foolin' with some hot guy" and asserts that he has had enough of her games. The repetition of the phrase "changes, changes, changes, changes" suggests that both the singer and the whiskey woman have undergone significant transformations, and that they are no longer compatible.
Overall, "Victim to Changes" is a powerful song that explores the complexities of addiction and its impact on relationships. Its haunting melody and powerful lyrics make it a standout track in Judas Priest's discography.
