The band's membership has seen much turnover, including a revolving cast of drummers in the 1970s and the departure of singer Rob Halford in 1992. Tim "Ripper" Owens, formerly of Winter's Bane, replaced Halford in 1996 and recorded two albums with Judas Priest, before Halford returned to the band in 2003. The current line-up consists of Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis. The band's best-selling album is 1982's Screaming for Vengeance, with their most commercially successful line-up featuring Ian Hill, Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, guitarist K. K. Downing, and drummer Dave Holland. Tipton and Hill are the only two members of the band to appear on every album.
Halford's operatic vocal style and the twin guitar sound of Downing and Tipton have been a major influence on heavy metal bands. Judas Priest's image of leather, spikes, and other taboo articles of clothing were widely influential during the glam metal era of the 1980s. The Guardian referred to British Steel as the record that defines heavy metal. Despite a decline in exposure during the mid-1990s, the band has once again seen a resurgence, including worldwide tours, being inaugural inductees into the VH1 Rock Honors in 2006, receiving a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2010, and having their songs featured in video games such as Guitar Hero and the Rock Band series. In 2022, Judas Priest were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Fight For You Life
Judas Priest Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm moving heaven and earth
Don't let go of the action
Push for all that you're worth
No denying
It goes against the grain
So Defying
Fight for your life
Fight for your money
Fight for your life
Fight for your money
Time for steel, stop at nothing
Looking fate in the face
We don't take no for an answer
Grab the lead in the race
Rock hard with a purpose
Got a mind that won't bend
A hard resolution
That is true to the end
The lyrics to Judas Priest's song Fight for Your Life convey the idea of perseverance and determination in the face of adversity. The song encourages listeners to stay strong and push forward, even when things seem difficult. The repeated phrase "Fight for your life, fight for your money" emphasizes the importance of standing up for oneself, both financially and personally.
The opening lines of the song, "Get a grip on the action, I'm moving heaven and earth," suggest that the singer is taking control and making things happen. He urges others to do the same, to "push for all that you're worth" and not let go of the action. This message is reinforced throughout the song: "Time for steel, stop at nothing, looking fate in the face/ We don't take no for an answer."
The chorus, with its driving rhythm and forceful vocals, exudes a sense of urgency and determination. The verses are equally powerful, with phrases like "rock hard with a purpose" and "a hard resolution that is true to the end" underscoring the song's central message of resilience. Overall, the lyrics to Fight for Your Life convey a message that is both inspirational and empowering, encouraging listeners to stay strong and fight for what they believe in.
