Time keeps its own time,
Here we stand at beginning,
And then goes passing us by,
And I, I, I can dream for us all,
I hope I'm in a better state,
When here and now crumbles and falls
And you, you , you who make worlds collide
Unannounced like a thief in the night.
Where do we go from here,
Time ain't nothing but time,
I now have no fear of my fears
And no more tears to cry,
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow means nothing at all
If we don't hear the line,
When today places its call, and morning, morning, morning
Won't ever be the same,
Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again
Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again
Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again
Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again
Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again
So tell me how do you do
Finally I meet you
You don't know what I've been through,
Waiting and wondering about you
I had a dream my trip would end at you,
And now I know paradise.
Time marches on never ending,
Time keeps its own time,
Here we stand at beginning,
And then goes passing us by,
And I, I, I can dream for us all,
I hope I'm in a better state,
When here and now crumbles and falls
And you, you , you who make worlds collide
I knew you'd come knocking one day,
Unannounced like a thief in the night.
So tell me how do you do
Finally I meet you
You don't know what I've been through,
Waiting and wondering about you
I had a dream my trip would end at you,
And now I know paradise.
So tell me how do you do
Finally I meet you
You don't know what I've been through,
Waiting and wondering about you
I had a dream my trip would end at you,
And now I know paradise.
The lyrics to Julie McKnight's song Finally express a sense of anticipation and relief as the singer finally meets someone she has been waiting for. Time is a recurring theme throughout the song, as she reflects on its inevitable passing and its ability to shape our lives. The singer acknowledges that mistakes have been made in the past, but she is now looking towards a brighter future.
In the first verse, the singer acknowledges time as an ever-present force that we cannot control. She reflects on our inability to stop time from passing, but also recognizes that we have the power to shape our own destiny. The line "And I, I, I can dream for us all" suggests that the singer is hopeful, even in the face of uncertainty. However, she also acknowledges that things may fall apart, as the line "When here and now crumbles and falls" indicates. The next line, "And you, you , you who make worlds collide," suggests that the person she has been waiting for may be the one who can bring order to chaos.
The chorus emphasizes the passage of time again, but it also suggests that the present moment is all we truly have. The line "Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow means nothing at all" emphasizes that the future is uncertain, and that we should focus on the present. The second half of the chorus reflects the idea that the singer has come to terms with her fears and regrets, and is now moving forward with confidence.
The second verse begins with a question: "Where do we go from here?" This emphasizes the uncertainty of the future, but also suggests that we have the power to choose our own path. The line "And no more tears to cry" suggests that the singer has moved past her previous struggles and is ready to embrace new opportunities. The following lines imply that the singer has learned from her previous mistakes and is determined not to make the same ones again.
Overall, the lyrics to "Finally" reflect a sense of hope and anticipation. The singer reflects on the passing of time and the unpredictability of the future, but also acknowledges that we have the power to shape our own lives. The chorus emphasizes the idea that the present moment is all we truly have, and that we should make the most of it.

Time marches on never ending,
Time seems to pass endlessly
Time keeps its own time,
Time is constant and cannot be controlled
Here we stand at beginning,
We are at the start of something
And then goes passing us by,
And quickly moves past us
And I, I, I can dream for us all,
I can have dreams for everyone
I hope I'm in a better state,
I hope to be in a better situation
When here and now crumbles and falls
When the present falls apart
And you, you , you who make worlds collide
You who bring two different things together
I knew you'd come knocking one day,
I always knew you would show up unexpectedly
Unannounced like a thief in the night.
Like a burglar who breaks in without warning
Where do we go from here,
What happens next?
Time ain't nothing but time,
Time is just time
I now have no fear of my fears
I am no longer afraid of being afraid
And no more tears to cry,
There are no more tears left to shed
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow means nothing at all
The future holds no significance
If we don't hear the line,
If we do not pay attention
When today places its call, and morning, morning, morning
When we receive the message of the present and the future
Won't ever be the same,
Life will never be the way it is now again
Now I won't make the same mistakes, time and time again
I will not repeat the same errors
So tell me how do you do
Introduce yourself
Finally I meet you
I have been waiting to meet you
You don't know what I've been through,
You are not aware of my experiences
Waiting and wondering about you
I waited and thought about you
I had a dream my trip would end at you,
I had a vision of reaching you
And now I know paradise.
And now I am ecstatic

Absolutely! Sending you tons of Love from Washington, D.C.!! I'm here for you and everyone reading this post. We have some deep souls right here. We're connected by the Love of Music! I remember when my Brother first dropped this song. My Brother Sam "The Man" Burns knew this was One of my life anthems. He spoke through his music to everybody! He always knew when someone needed to hear Julie sing! Every time he would play this track it was a different life experience. Putting life into perspective and letting go of what no longer serves you. That's the power of MUSIC. I honor my dance floor time. Dancers have been my lifelong lifelines for 20+ years. I'm humbled and honored to listen to it again in 2021. It still pushes me through, Lisa!! Anyone reading this post know that you are so loved and you're never alone. What makes my heartstrings pull even more so my brother Sam passed away two years ago. DC Family is stronger than ever because Sam taught us well. He taught us how to get through even the toughest battles. Life isn't easy and as long as we are together. Friendship and connection. We can heal and recover. The lyrics have a new meaning new life experience. May music continue to feed your heart, body, mind, and soul. I got your back, Lisa. I was meant to find this thread. Yesterday I dealt with losing my Dad. Sam was always there for me. He was the One I call on. It was my Dad's 11th death anniversary yesterday. I'm so used to going to Eighteenth Street Lounge and being with DC Family. Now I am without Sam and my Dad. I miss them so much it hurts. I played this music and it took on a whole new meaning! I feel loved and comforted. I thought about all the good memories. Music always brings me back to the present Moment. Thank goodness for lyrics! I absolute love this song. I just had to deal with a shitty thread from my old hometown earlier today. I remember Finally. I can exhale again. Closed my eyes and listen. This timeless gem will always feed our Souls. For that I am so grateful and thankful. Love me some Defected Records!! Hit me up and let's dance!!! Much LOVE. Thanks for reading!

It's 2024 and we're still listening this masterpiece. One of the best end of set/night end tunes. Great memories!

Unbelievable tune!

I met my daughter's father in 1997. We had an amazing night dancing to this, well I say dancing... π. Of course she wasn't created, not even a thought, but this brings me right back to the night we met and now we have her. She's 21 now. Memories are wonderful, especially when they're good ones.

The first time I heard this song was in the early 2000s at Pacha in Ibiza during a Subliminal party. Erik Morillo played this track. The atmosphere was hot, a beautiful girl knew the lyrics of the song by heart and sang it while dancing in a sensual way against me. What a night! What memories!
