K-Ci and JoJo's first sign of independence came in 1994 when K-Ci covered Bobby Womack's hit "If You Think You're Lonely Now" for the movie Jason's Lyric. Early in 1996, K-Ci and Jo-Jo teamed up for the song "How Could You" for the movie Bulletproof starring Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler.
By July 1996, K-Ci and JoJo finally had a hit on their hands as guest artists in 2Pac's number-one R&B hit "How Do U Want It". It also topped the Billboard Hot 100. The brothers made their side projects into a full album, Love Always. Released on June 17, 1997, the album spawned two top-ten R&B hits: "You Bring Me Up" and "Last Night's Letter". "All My Life" was the number-one song on the Hot 100 for three weeks, a feat that K-Ci and Jo-Jo had never achieved with Jodeci.Love Always went on to sell four million copies, and the success of the album put Jodeci's reunion on hold indefinitely.
Their second album,It's Real, was released on June 22, 1999. It spawned one major hit "Tell Me It's Real" which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard's R&B charts. K-Ci and Jo-Jo returned with X on December 5, 2000. "X", the Roman numeral for ten, was picked as the album title to celebrate the Haileys' tenth anniversary in the music business. They made a strong return to the Billboard Hot 100 early in 2001 with the song "Crazy", also included on the Save the Last Dance soundtrack. "Crazy" peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
The fourth K-Ci and Jo-Jo album, Emotional, was released on November 26, 2002, but failed to find commercial success. K-Ci and JoJo released a greatest hits album on February 8, 2005. They are believed to have teamed back up with DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin for a Jodeci reunion album.

To make my life so complete and new
You want to know if it's true
If thought of you I said silly do
So let's go
Here we go, nasty roads,
? to the middle while the speakers blow
That's right, that's right
Shoot back, relax, baby let me drive.
Show me, 'cause he's happily ever after.
It's like you don't even know
How much I care 'cause I'm always gone
Girl didn't like out here we
To take you all to the great beyond, let go.
Here we go, nasty roads,
? to the middle while the speakers blow
Shooting me, living happily ever after.
That's right, that's right
Shoot back, relax, baby let me drive.
'Cause he's happily ever after.
Oh oh oh oh
I said baby yeah
Oh oh oh oh
Come on and take a ride with me
Oh oh oh oh
And baby oh oh oh
Oh yeah.
Come on baby
Come on, come on, come on baby
Do you wanna go?
In the song "Happily Ever After" by K-Ci & JoJo, the lyrics convey a strong sense of adoration and devotion between two individuals. The opening verse expresses the idea that one person feels complete and fulfilled solely by the presence of their partner. The line "Don't need nobody but you, to make my life so complete and new" encapsulates the deep connection and reliance on their significant other for happiness and contentment.
The following lines suggest a playful and carefree attitude towards their relationship, with the mention of driving down "nasty roads" and blasting music from the singers. This imagery paints a picture of a couple enjoying the simple pleasures of life together, finding joy in each other's company. The repetition of the phrase "happily ever after" reinforces the idea that they are living in a state of bliss and harmony.
The lyrics further delve into the complexities of their relationship, hinting at moments of doubt or uncertainty. The line "It's like you don't even know how much I care 'cause I'm always gone" suggests a struggle with balancing personal responsibilities with the desire to be present for their partner. Despite these challenges, there is a willingness to move forward and embrace the journey together towards a brighter future.
The concluding verses evoke a sense of anticipation and excitement, with the invitation to "come on and take a ride with me" symbolizing a shared journey towards an unknown destination. The repeated refrain of "oh oh oh" creates a sense of euphoria and celebration, emphasizing the euphoric feeling of being with the one you love. The overall message of the song seems to celebrate the transformative power of love and the belief in a happily ever after with a partner.
