Prior to being a recording artist, he was a record store owner and a club DJ at a nightclub in Salt Lake City as a way to make ends meet for him and his wife. After he and his wife moved to San Francisco he landed a job as a A&R man at OM records, where in addition to reviewing demos for the label he also submitted his own material, which would pay off big time for him. In 2001 he went from behind the desk to behind the turntables and the recording studio as an artist in his own right. In 2003 Kaskade released his first album, "It's You It's Me", which was well received by critics.
It would be his follow up, "In The Moment" in 2004, that would put Kaskade on the map. The first single off the set "Steppin' Out" would become a major hit on the Dance Radio Airplay that year as well as a top 10 hit on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. His biggest breakthrough would come the week of May 14, 2005, when his follow up, "Everything," would go all the way to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.
I'm In Love
Kaskade Lyrics

Laying the heart on the line.
For that second, you believe
A life without him, you'll survive
I try
I'm asleep but I can never dream
'Cause dreaming brings me back to you
Because my past belongs to you
Lovely as a summer breeze, taking away memories
Just hoping for a miracle embracing my life without you
I try
I'm asleep but I can never dream
'Cause dreaming brings me back to you
I try to think of what the future holds
Because my past belongs to you
I'll never dream
It brings me back
I'll never dream
In Kaskade's song "I Remember" these lyrics depict a sense of heartbreak as the singer lays their heart on the line, with the possibility that their love may not be returned. The lyrics describe the confusion between moving on from the relationship and the fear of losing the one they love. The line "Laying the heart on the line" suggests vulnerability and the risk being taken in expressing feelings. The singer is reaching out, trying to let go of their past whilst holding onto the hope that they may be able to keep their love alive.
The lyrics "Dreaming brings me back to you", is a powerful allusion to the feeling of impossibility the singer has in trying to let go of this love. They understand that dreaming of a future with the one they love is only going to bring them back to the pain they are trying to leave behind. The repeated assertion, "I try" indicates the singer’s resolve to face up to a harsh but necessary reality.
