Did I ever made you bleed inside?
Did I kill you?
I didn't mean to make you hide yourself,
Find you in you, beautiful.
Do not grow the seeds of pain in you,
Goodbye!
Let the butterflies cry,
You just dry your eyes,
Because the world is wonderful.
Let the butterflies cry,
Let them cry for you.
You just dry your eyes,
Because the world is wonderful.
Oh, because the world is wonderful
I have been there,
I used to belive there was no light.
But I found out,
Oh, life is far too short to fight.
Loose yourself, let go of your pain,
Taste the air you breathe and kiss the sky.
Goodbye!
Let the butterflies cry,
Let them cry for you.
You just dry your eyes,
Because the world is wonderful.
Let the butterflies cry,
Let them cry for you.
You just dry your eyes,
Because the world is wonderful.
Oh, because the world is wonderful.
Let the butterflies cry,
Let them cry for you.
You just dry your eyes,
Because the world is wonderful.
Let the butterflies cry,
Let them cry for you.
You just dry your eyes,
Because the world is wonderful.
Oh, because the world is wonderful,
And yeah, because the world is wonderful!
In Kerli's song Butterfly Cry, she addresses someone who she may have hurt in the past. She questions if she has hurt this person to the point where they are bleeding internally or if she has caused them to hide away from the world. She then encourages this person to find themselves and not allow pain to grow inside them before saying goodbye. She then reminds this person to let the beauty of the world wash over them and allow themselves to feel emotions, no matter how difficult. The chorus repeats the idea of letting the butterflies cry for the pain that has been felt but also acknowledging the bittersweet beauty in the world.
The song seems to be about learning from past pain and allowing oneself to embrace the beauty of the world, rather than allowing oneself to dwell in pain and fear. Kerli's lyrics encourage letting the emotions flow, even if it is painful to do so. The chorus is especially poignant in this as it acknowledges both pain and beauty, reminding the listener that it is possible to find a balance between the two.
