Follow Me
Kid Cudi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
My life as, as good as it ever be, ever be.
Close, close my mind, to the outside light.
I?m fuck fucked up and I can?t leave, can?t leave.
You can?t, can?t be, where I,I be.
Follow me and you?ll see and you?ll see.
You can?t, can?t see, what I, I see.
So hard to cope it hurt, hurt my hope.
My pride deep inside is fading slow.
Fall, fall asleep my brain runs at speeds.
I?m lost, lost in dreams and reality, reality.
Please save me Lord, my life is such a chore.
But I, I need this to be ok, be ok.
What, what they think of me it ain?t no thing.
My heart, heart is broke completely.
You can?t, can?t be, where I,I be.
Follow me and you?ll see and you?ll see.
You can?t, can?t see, what I, I see.
Follow me and you?ll be free, you?ll be free.
Take time, and see where I?m at.
Take, take, take time and see where I?m at.
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh.
You can?t, can?t be, where I,I be.
Follow me and you?ll see and you?ll see.
You can?t, can?t see, what I, I see.
Follow me and you?ll be free, you?ll be free.
The lyrics to Kid Cudi's song Follow Me convey the struggle of feeling lost in one's own mind and the desire for someone to join them in their journey towards self-discovery. The opening lines urge the listener to wake up and open their eyes to the potential in their life, but the singer's own life feels stagnant and unchanging. They try to shut out the outside world and its distractions in order to confront their own struggles. The chorus repeatedly emphasizes the idea that the listener cannot fully understand or relate to the singer's experiences, but if they follow them, they may find their own sense of freedom.
The second verse continues the themes of internal turmoil and the desire for release. The singer's coping mechanisms are failing them and their pride is slipping away. They seek solace in sleep and the dreams and realities that blur together. The plea to a higher power reflects a sense of desperation for relief. Despite the pressure of outside opinions, the singer ultimately recognizes that their personal growth is what matters most.
Overall, the lyrics of Follow Me suggest the importance of finding one's own path and facing internal struggles rather than seeking constant validation from others. The invitation to follow the singer implies a shared journey towards self-discovery and liberation.
