Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.

And how you need your space and give the keys back to your door
And how I cried and tried and tried to make you stay with me
And still you said your love was gone and that I had to leave
Now you're talking 'bout a family
Now you're saying I complete your dreams
Oh
Now you're sayin' I'm your everything
What you saying to me, don't play wit me, don't play wit me
'Cause
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Now who's cryin', desirin', to come back to me
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Now who's cryin', desirin', to come back
I remember when I was sittin' home alone
Waitin' for you til three o'clock in the 'morn
And when you came home you'd always have some sorry excuse
Half explaining to me like I'm just some kind of a fool
I sacrificed the things I wanted just to do things for you
But when it's time to do for me
You never come through
Now you wanna be up under me
Now you have so much to say to me
Now you wanna make time for me
Whatcha doin' to me, you're confusin' me
Don't play with me, don't play with me cause
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Now who's cryin', desirin', to come back to me
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Now who's cryin', desirin', to come back
I remember when I was sittin' home alone
Waitin' for you till three o'clock in the 'morn
Night after night knowing something goin' on
Wasn't long before I be gone
Lord knows it wasn't easy believe me
Never thought you'd be the one that would deceive me
And never do what you're supposed to do
No need to approach me fool, 'cuz I'm over you
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Now who's cryin', desirin', to come back to me
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Gotta stop trying to come back to me
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
It's called Karma, baby and it goes around
What goes around comes around?
What goes up must come down?
Now who's cryin', desirin', to come back to me
The lyrics of βKarmaβ by Kidz Bop are about a relationship that has gone sour due to one personβs lack of commitment and loyalty. The singer reminisces about a time where she tried to hold on to the relationship but was ultimately left behind for supposed greener pastures. The situation is now flipped, with the other person trying to come back and being rejected. The chorus of the song is a popular phrase, βwhat goes around comes around,β and is a nod to the idea of karma. The singer is no longer interested in rekindling anything with the person because of the past pain they have caused.
The first verse describes how the singerβs partner left her and made it clear that their love was gone. But now, the person is talking about starting a family and how the singer completes their dreams. The singer is understandably confused and doesnβt want to be played with anymore. The chorus emphasizes this confusion by saying that those who do wrong will ultimately receive retribution. The second verse describes how the singer has sacrificed a lot for the relationship and how her partner has never reciprocated that effort. The partner now wants to make time for the singer but is met with skepticism and rejection.
Overall, the song is about the consequences of oneβs actions and how they can come back to bite you in the future. It is also about standing up for yourself and not allowing others to play with your emotions.
