The Meetings
King Diamond Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The night is black
7 figures walk the streets of Louviers
Picard is one, another two are priests
And then the nuns going to

The meetings held in secrecy
Evil company full of secrecy, again and again
The room is dark
Candies on the wall, they've been here before
The christian cross is hanging high above
The altar of GOD

Madeleine is at the gate
Hazy feeling in her brain
As the strangers come in to

The meetings held in secrecy
Evil company full of secrecy, again and again

The strangers brought
The sweetest little child, but something's wrong
The baby cries, someone here will die
And now the nuns pray

The meetings held in secrecy
Evil company full of secrecy, again and again

Madeleine and the other nuns
They hold the infant up to the cross
As father Picard and the priests

Approach with hammers and nails
There's no more to tell

Overall Meaning

"The Meetings" by King Diamond is a haunting song that depicts an eerie scene in Louviers where a group of people gather in secret for evil purposes. The first verse of the song sets the scene by describing the dark night in which seven figures walk the streets, among them being a man named Picard and two priests. The group is heading to the meetings, which are held in secrecy and filled with evil company. In the second verse, we see the room where the meetings are held. The room is dark, with candies on the wall suggesting that the meetings have been held there before. Above the altar of God, a Christian cross hangs high. Madeleine, one of the nuns, stands at the gate with a hazy feeling in her brain as the strangers come in.

In the third verse, we see that the strangers have brought a sweet little child, but something is wrong. The baby cries, and it is clear that someone will die. The nuns begin to pray as they hold the infant up to the cross. Father Picard and the priests approach with hammers and nails, and the song ends with the chilling line, "There's no more to tell."

King Diamond's heavy metal is actually pretty complex when you dive into the riffs and motifs. They were never lazy with their compositions. Maybe that's why they never made it huge: lack of short, straightforward songs.

Yeah, and Andy Laroque is such an amazing guitarist, not just technical but more importantly he plays VERY melodic. It'slike he paints a picture with his playing. King is an amazing song writer, it's like the power duo.
