(1) The hard-roots reggae vocal group Knowledge, recorded the 'Hail Dread' album for Tappa Zukie in 1978. It was released by A&M UK, but inappropriately marketed. The album consequently failed to attract the attention of reggae collectors and is, today, a largely unrecognised classic of the genre.
The original line-up consisted of singer/songwriter Anthony Doyley and Michael Smith on guitar with Earl McFarlane, Michael Samuels and Delroy Fawlin on vocals.
‘Hail Dread’ was followed by ‘Judgement’. Selected tracks from both albums are available on ‘Straight Outta Trenchtown: 1975-1980’
The next decade saw the release of further recordings, although by this time several of the group had met violent ends.
(2) Knowledge were formed by Link 80 lead singer Nick Traina (The Son of Daneile Steel, who wrote a Biography about him called "His Bright light"). Before the death of Nick Traina in 1997, they recorded one demo album called 'Gift Before I Go', which was released on Asian Man Records.
(3) A Hip-Hop artist from Skelmersdale, UK, part of the Hip-Hop group Skem Poet Society
(4) An up-and-coming UK Hip-Hop artist signed to the independant label, RawTalk Recordings

But only when you try to you lie and use them everday
You're fighting with yourself...you can't fool me
Someday you will realize...Someday you will say
You thought you were a ruler
It's only a charade
A never ending fight that's going to point you at desparity
I'll fight you with my anger if you don't shut your mouth
Someday you'll realize (gotta learn)
Racism must be stomped out
I know that you were worried but I'm always in effect
Still I'll make you listen to what I have to say
The worst thing there is to fear is the colour of the skin
It's time to take me serious so let's begin
Knowledge!!!
Fuck White Pride!!!!!
In Knowledge's song Stomp Out, the lyrics describe a person who lies and uses their lies every day. The persona in the song suggests that this person is fighting with themselves and they cannot fool them. They believe that these lies will one day come to light, and the person will realize what they have been doing. The lyrics go on to talk about how the person thinks they are a ruler, but it is only a charade. The fight that they have within themselves is going to lead them to despair.
The persona in the song then says that they will fight the person with their anger if they do not stop spouting their lies. The lyrics suggest that someday the person will understand that racism needs to be stopped. The song asserts that the worst thing anyone can fear is a person's skin color. The persona tells the listener that it's time to take them seriously and that they should stop racism.
In summary, the lyrics of Stomp Out convey a message of anti-racism with a call to action. The lyrics criticize individuals who lie and use their lies, particularly as it relates to racism. The persona calls for a stopping of racism, asserting that it is the worst thing to fear.
