Koko Taylor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Something you got, baby
Makes me work all day
Something you got, baby
Makes me bring home my pay
Something you got, baby
You ought to know
My my, whoa whoa
I love you so

Something you got, baby
Makes the world go 'round
Something you got, baby
Keep me home every night
Something you got, baby
You ought to know
You ought to know
Whoa, whoa, my, my
Whoa I love you so

Something you got
Makes me work all day
Something you got
Makes me bring home my pay
Something you got
You ought to know

My my, whoa whoa
I love you so

My wife and I took my 10 year old daughter to see Lonnie Brooks. He sang this, and she stood in front of the stage singing along with him. Next thing we knew, she was on stage, on the keyboard player's bench, with his guitar strapped around her shoulders. She was star struck, and we couldn't have been more proud. Lonnie was an amazing guy. May he rest in peace

I read that when they recorded this and they hit verse 2, where Koko comes in......the engineers' jaws hit the floor. I haven't heard other versions...would have loved to see this live. A great pairing and Koko just owns it.

B.B King was and is a "Blue Legend"

@MyMoppet52

Jerry Otis Thank you for that. You are correct. I appreciate you listening & taking the time to comment.

I'm dropping notes to blues artists that I love that are still on this earth. I called an unknown legend, Captain Luke, who is in hospice to let him know that there are so many people who love him through his music & he will never know how many he has touched. I was in touch with Music Makers Relief & they told me that Captain Luke was excited to get calls that so many people love him! Since B.B.King's passing, I'm getting busy sending notes. It might never reach the artists, but I want them to know. My best to you, Moppet
