The title track «Pangea» - the first single from their upcoming album - shows a band who can still write anthems in Norwegian, and that easily can play at both big festival stages and at small village parties.
Kråkesølv’s music is still anchored in two guitars, bass, drums and lyrics written in their own dialect. But this time they have forced themselves to paint with a broader brush. «Pangea» shows a band challenging staid frameworks, and they are moving into landscapes that bands like Dungen and Radiohead have plowed before. But, as always, Kråkesølv land safely on their own Northern Norwegian feet.
The reason why Kråkesølv now are taking a different direction than before, is mainly due to their producer, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, Susanne Sundfør). In addition to producing, he has contributed in many ways, with giving good advice, with being a motivator and with playing instruments like piano, mellotron and vibraphone. Throughout the entire recording process, Horntveth has also been offering them fresh coffee and fiery cheers.
Their lyrics have the same melancholy character that has coloured Kråkesølv’s universe since their debut album, and they continue to make connections between interpersonal and universal matters.

Kråkesølv Lyrics

men æ har vært her før
og tankan mine
går i ring
ingen verdens ting har skjedd
så æ går her og e redd
mens livet blir til
ingenting
ka kan egentlig skje
livet e en klisjé
og nøye som du e
kor fornøyd e du med det
si det du vil si
syng din elegi
så kanskje du kan bli
lykkelig
The song Waldemar by Kråkesølv explores themes of fear, uncertainty, and the search for happiness in life. The first verse speaks to the fear of death, with the singer acknowledging the fear in someone close to them, but also recognizing that they themselves have faced death before. However, the repetitive nature of their thoughts and the lack of any significant changes in their life leave them feeling stuck and afraid.
The chorus questions the meaning of life and whether anything truly exciting or significant can happen. The singer acknowledges that life can be clichéd and unremarkable, but encourages the listener to speak their truth and sing their own "elegy" - in other words, to express themselves and create their own happiness.
Overall, the song paints a poignant picture of a person who feels trapped in a mundane and fearful existence, but seeks to find meaning and joy in their own unique way.

du e redd førr at æ dør
You're scared that I'll die
men æ har vært her før
But I've been here before
og tankan mine går i ring
And my thoughts keep circling
ingen verdens ting har skjedd
Nothing has happened at all
så æ går her og e redd
So I'm walking around scared
mens livet blir til ingenting
While life turns into nothing
ka kan egentlig skje
What can actually happen?
livet e en klisjé
Life is a cliché
og nøye som du e
And as careful as you are
kor fornøyd e du med det
How satisfied are you with that?
si det du vil si
Say what you want to say
syng din elegi
Sing your elegy
så kanskje du kan bli lykkelig
So maybe you can become happy
