The Knife
Kyla La Grange Lyrics

One night you got into my head
With the cold bright fear that stroke me dead
And your body lay heavy in our bed
With those blood stained tears on your chest
Our love is never what it was
Never bold enough to carry us,
In the beginning I wanted you so much
Fire then dirt, then dust

So love, would you save her
Is she everything you bet upon your life?
So love, did you need her
Is it all because you fell against the knife
And now, can you hold her
Do you see her in the shadow of the knife
So love, have you lost her,
Does it turn you up inside?

One day, I'll sleep and never wake
And they outtake the color from my face
This is all a pay for my mistakes,
Old things wither then drink

So love, would you save her
Is she everything you bet upon your life?
So love, did you need her
Is it all because you fell against the knife
And now, can you hold her
Do you see her in the shadow of the knife
So love, have you lost her,
Does it turn you up inside?

Will I hold your hand tonight
And how I'd hold your hand tonight
Did you work so hard to keep her
Did you try so hard despite?
Was it her cold heart that freed her?
Come on home, song, tight

So love, would you save her
Is she everything you bet upon your life?
So love, did you need her
Is it all because you fell against the knife?
And now, can you hold her
Do you see her in the shadow of the knife
So love, have you lost her,

Does it turn you up inside?
Does it turn you up inside?

Overall Meaning

In Kyla La Grange's song "The Knife," the lyrics explore the complex and tumultuous nature of a romantic relationship that has gone awry. The verses describe the singer's partner, who has caused her great pain and fear, and who she no longer feels a deep connection with. The chorus repeatedly asks the question "So love, would you save her?" which seems to be directed at the partner, and suggests that the singer is trying to understand the reasons behind the pain they have caused her.

The image of the "knife" is a recurring theme throughout the song, and seems to symbolize the emotional damage that has been done to the relationship. The singer asks if the partner fell "against the knife," implying that they may have deliberately hurt her. Later, she wonders if they can see her in the "shadow of the knife," suggesting that the scars from their relationship are still present.

The final verse is particularly bleak, with the singer contemplating her own mortality and suggesting that her pain is a result of her own mistakes. The chorus repeats one last time, with the singer seemingly resigned to the fact that the relationship is over, but still searching for answers.

Overall, "The Knife" is a powerful and emotive song that delves deep into the complexities of love and loss. It paints a vivid picture of a relationship that has been damaged beyond repair, and asks important questions about the nature of romantic love and what it truly means to "save" someone.

@Hot Process Truth. Could just be her choice. Marketing and all that, she may just make herself comfortable and avoid the fame.

I saw her last week at Somerset House where she opened up for Bastille and I can honestly say that she sounds much better live and her voice is incredible. This song especially sounded a lot more impressive live.

I love that this song is called The Knife because the style of the music actually is very reminiscent of the electro band The Knife.
