What Will I Become
Leandro Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wanna be a cowboy
A pirate and a superman
Keep fighting for the good
I wanna be a captain
A spaceman wanna fly up to the stars
And to the moon

There are so many different ways
That I can go
Wonder how to find it out and how to know

What will I become?
Tell me father I'm your son
Will the things that I am told
Still be valid when I'm old?
What will I become?
Will I be rising like the sun?
How will I know
What is right or wrong?

I wanna be a hero
A pilot and a fireman
And rescue someone's life
I wanna be an explorer
Discover secret places
Where nobody has ever been

In the streets so many people
But no one smiles
And it seems they are not happy
With their lives

What will I become?
Tell me father I'm your son
Will the things that I am told
Still be valid when I'm old?
What will I become?
Will I be rising like the sun?
How will I know
What is right or wrong?

In the streets so many people
But no one smiles
And it seems they are not happy
With their lives

What will I become?
Tell me father I'm your son
Will the things that I am told
Still be valid when I'm old?
What will I become?
Will I be rising like the sun?
How will I know
What is right or wrong?

I wanna be a painter
An artist and an entertainer

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Leandro's song "What Will I Become" speak to the universal experience of wondering about one's place and purpose in the world. The singer of the song expresses a desire to try on many different identities and roles, from cowboy to fireman to spaceman, in order to discover what kind of person he wants to be. He looks to his father for guidance and support, questioning whether the things he has been told will still hold true when he is older. Ultimately, the singer's search for meaning seems to be driven by a desire to live a fulfilling life, one in which he can make a positive impact on the world around him.

The song's upbeat melody and catchy chorus belie the often weighty questions that the lyrics pose. However, the juxtaposition of these elements also speaks to the idea that it is possible to cultivate joy and curiosity even in the face of uncertainty and doubt. As the singer ponders his future, he recognizes the challenges that lie ahead in figuring out "what is right or wrong." Nevertheless, he remains resolute in his determination to explore and experiment, to find a path that feels authentic to him.

Overall, "What Will I Become" is a thoughtful and engaging meditation on the search for identity and purpose. It speaks to the ways in which we all must grapple with the question of who we are and who we want to be, and suggests that the journey itself can be both thrilling and rewarding.

Herdeiros do Futuro
Toquinho
A vida é uma grande amiga da gente
Nos dá tudo de graça pra viver
Sol e céu, luz e ar
Rios e fontes, terra e mar

O fruto, a folha, o caule e a raiz
Será que a vida acaba encontrando
Um jeito bom da gente ser feliz?

Vamos ter que cuidar
Bem desse pais.
Vamos ter que cuidar
Bem desse país

Será que no futuro haverá flores?
Será que os peixes vão estar no mar?
Será que os arco-íris terão cores?
E os passarinhos vão poder voar?

Será que a terra vai seguir nos dando
