4th Edit:
Since I’ve Been Loving You is a blues rock song written by John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant. It’s the 4th track on side one of Led Zeppelin III (released October 5, 1970).
During a May 1993 interview with Brad Tolinski of Guitar World Jimmy Page said Since I’ve Been Loving You was the hardest to record.
GW: "Had you reached a dead end with the blues-based material found on the first two albums?”
Page: "No. We always had some blues on our albums. Playing the blues is actually the most challenging thing you can do. It is very hard to play something original. “Since I’ve Been Loving You” is a prime example. That was the only song on the third album that we had played live prior to our sessions, yet it was the hardest to record. We had several tries at that one. The final version is a live take with John Paul Jones playing organ and foot bass pedals at the same time.”

Since I've Been Loving
Led Zeppelin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It really makes life a drag
I don't think that's right
I've really been the best of fools
I did what I could, yeah
'Cause I love you, baby
How I love you, darling
How I love you, baby
But baby, since I've been loving you, yeah
I'm about to lose my worried mind, oh yeah
Everybody trying to tell me
That you didn't mean me no good
I've been trying, Lord, let me tell you
Let me tell you I really did the best I could
I've been working from seven to eleven every night
I said it kinda makes my life a drag
Lord, that ain't right, no no
Since I've been loving you
I'm about to lose my worried mind
Watch out
Said I've been crying, yeah
Oh, my tears they fell like rain
Don't you hear, don't you hear them falling
Don't you hear, don't you hear them falling
Do you remember, mama, when I knocked upon your door?
I said you had the nerve to tell me
You didn't want me no more, yeah
I open my front door, hear my back door slam
You know, you must have one of them new fangled
New fangled back door man
I've been working from seven, seven, seven to eleven every night
It kinda makes my life a drag, a drag, drag
Ah, yeah, it makes a drag
Baby, since I've been loving you
I'm about to lose
I'm about to lose, lose my worried mind
Just one more, just one more, oh yeah
Since I've been loving you, I'm about to lose my worried mind
The lyrics of Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" chronicles the pain and frustration of being in a one-sided relationship. The song begins with the singer describing how he has been working from 7 to 11 every night, which has made his life a drag. He laments that despite his best efforts, he has been a fool for loving his partner so deeply. But despite the hurt, the singer declares his love for his partner repeatedly in the chorus, referring to her as his "beloved little girl."
The second verse sees the singer become increasingly disillusioned as he faces the fact that his partner may not have had his best interests at heart. He acknowledges that people have warned him that his partner has been unfair to him, but he has tried his best to make things work. However, he seems to be reaching a boiling point as he states that he's "about to lose [his] worried mind" since he's been loving her. The outro of the song is a desperate plea as the singer reminisces about the day he asked his mother for advice and she told him he's better off without his partner. The song ends with the singer declaring that he's about to lose his mind - the pain from the relationship has become too much to bear.

I seen this movie at the U.A. Westwood, on Westwood blvd.
in Westwood, (sadly, it's a CVS now,) 60 times in one year!!!
Circa 1980.
I was 14 years old that year, and in my 'senior' year of Paul Revere Junior High School in Pacific Palisades\Brentwood.
My friends, and I would invariably rip some super 'Da kine',
'Maui Waui', 'Kau'i Electric',
or some Humboldt county Purple Skunk Indica bud, or Kryptonite bong hits in our U.S. bongs,
and jump on the old R.T.D. (Rapid Transit District,
or,
Really That Dirty) bus to the midnight matinee at the U.A. westwood where they would simultaneously show the perrenial costume-cult-classic 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'.
They would show them in separate movie theaters because they have four.
Heavy metal would play in the third, and 'Fritz the Cat'
in the fourth. Sometimes we would ride our skateboards all the way to Westwood, and maybe play video games for an hour at the Westwood video game arcade,
or maybe even sneak into the nearby cemetery, and rip some pre-matinee bong-hits, and then go to the movie,
and watch it dazed, and awestruck as our beloved ❤🎉
Led Zeppelin were blasted through the Dolby Surround Sound movie theater speakers at Volume 11!! And we were in heaven.
Good shit!!!
Good times

Well said. To me, one of the things about Zepplin is that they take us to another place in so much of their music. Iconic musicians - each one - they were so far ahead of their time!
@willbrink
That's what a guitar God sounds like. Still the greatest rock band of all time.

This is the greatest 8 minutes of music in the 15 billion years of this universe's existence. Just 4 human dudes with voice, boxes, sticks and metal strings, making sounds that shake the heavens. Unbelievable.
