Left Spine Down Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just thought you oughtta know the end is near
Did you honestly think it would've worked at all?
'Cause everything I've seen has only made me fall
There ain't much I can do now that I've seen the truth
There ain't much I can do now they've made me into one of you
Repent - for the kingdom of oblivion is at hand
Reject - false gods, false hopes, and false ideals
Reset - push the button, game over, no more time to steal
Feed me more, fill me more
Lie to me before you leave me here to rot
Know just what you're doing
Can't believe I was the culprit all along
And I'll come looking for you when you least expect it
The punchline of it all is the fate of which I inherit
You need
We fight
You bleed
We die
They win
The game begins again
This time
We're lost
Inside
Media holocaust
It burns
You yearn
To feel the touch
Of your gun
The lyrics of "Reset" by Left Spine Down explore themes of deception, disillusionment, and a desire for escape from societal norms. The singer begins by expressing a need to leave, stating that the end is near, and everything he has seen has only caused him to fall. He questions the effectiveness of the systems and people around him, particularly the false gods, false hopes, and false ideals that he has rejected. The call to "push the button" and reset is a final act of defiance against the deception and manipulation that he has endured.
The singer then shifts his focus to the people around him, criticizing them for lying to him and leaving him to rot. However, he also recognizes his own culpability in the situation, indicating that he was the culprit all along. The final lines of the song reveal his desire for revenge and the dark fate that waits for those who have wronged him.
Overall, the lyrics of "Reset" are a poignant exploration of the disillusionment and betrayal that can come with navigating societal norms and expectations. The call to "reset" is a powerful symbol of the desire for escape and reinvention in the face of these challenges.
