Ive Got Some Falling to Do
Lemon Demon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In an aeroplane
I was flying
Just a flight attendant guy
I can be clumsy
And I stumbled
Out the door into the sky!

Now I am falling through the air
Wind and regret flow through my hair
All I can do right now is stare
Down at the ocean!

SUDDENLY!
There's a ring on my cellphone!
I PICK IT UP!
It's the Angel of Death
And he says
"What's up?"
I say
"What is it this time?"
And he's like
"Well, hello, goodbye, I'll see you in hell!
He can be like that sometimes
He's such a nut!
So I sniggered and said,
"I'd love to, but
Gravity's calling, I've got some falling to do!"

I'm in a state of shock but it's something new!
I guess it all depends on your point of view!
It's true!

This is boring
Yes I'm falling
But it's taking quite a while
My destination is impending
Might aswell go out in style
I put my arms up to the skies
Whistle a tune and close my eyes
Trying to briefly realize
Perpetual motion

SUDDENLY!
Giant tentacles rise
From the open sea!
And with total percision
They lasso me!
It's a montrous squid and he saved my life
But I am too, freaked out to be nice,
So I tell him the truth that I'd rather fall
No offense but atleast it's predictable
Gotta stop stalling,
I've got some falling to do
I'm probably gonna die but it's something new
I guess it all depends on your point of view
It's true!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "I've Got Some Falling to Do" by Lemon Demon tell the story of a flight attendant who accidentally falls out of an airplane. The song begins with the flight attendant explaining his clumsiness and how he stumbled out of the plane's door and into the sky. This sets the stage for his unexpected free fall.

As he falls through the air, the flight attendant describes the sensation of wind and regret flowing through his hair. He finds himself unable to do anything but stare down at the ocean below. The sudden interruption comes when his cellphone rings, and it's revealed to be the Angel of Death on the other end. The flight attendant engages in a brief conversation with the Angel of Death, who is portrayed as somewhat quirky and unpredictable. However, the flight attendant jokingly declines the invitation to hell, stating that he has to continue falling due to the force of gravity.

The second paragraph reflects the flight attendant's state of shock and the realization that this experience is something new for him. He acknowledges the subjective nature of one's perspective and emphasizes the idea that the outcome depends on how one views it.

Despite the boredom of falling for a prolonged period, the flight attendant chooses to embrace the impending destination with style. He puts his arms up to the skies, whistles a tune, and closes his eyes, attempting to briefly surrender to the moment and recognize the concept of perpetual motion.

In a surprising turn of events, giant tentacles rise from the open sea and save the flight attendant from his fall. A monstrous squid lassoes him with precision. However, the flight attendant is too freaked out by this unexpected rescue to appreciate it, and he expresses a preference for falling. He clarifies that his decision is not meant as an offense to the squid but rather a desire for predictability. The flight attendant insists that he needs to stop hesitating and continue his descent.

In the final guitar solo, the song concludes without explicitly resolving the flight attendant's fate. However, it reiterates the idea that even though he may die, the experience is something new for him, emphasizing the theme of embracing the unknown and finding one's own viewpoint on life's unpredictable moments.

This song is so...bizarre???
Like:
1. why the heck was an airplane door open?? Or did he just phase through it???
2. He just casually talks to the Angel of Death over the phone and the way he talks to him implies they're just. good friends? somehow???
3. The way he says "What is it this time?" could imply so many different things, all of them weird and nonsensical
4. why did a giant squid save him
5. How does the squid UNDERSTAND him
6. Somehow he wasn't scared by the fact that he's falling to his death but a giant squid? Terrifying.
7. The lyrics are so wacky but it's such a good song
8. For some reason it has a strange feeling of nostalgia even though I've never heard anything like this song until recently. Why

I do not understand

@TerryTheTricky

a commercial airliner will fly at around 36000ft
the terminal velocity of a human body in a spread out belly to ground position is around 120mph
the first 1500ft are covered in 12 seconds since that's the distance it takes to reach terminal velocity
120mph converted to feet per second comes to 176
(36000-1500)/176=196*
196+12=208 seconds
the length of this video os 3 minutes and 26 seconds (but the first second is silence so we don't care about that)
this converted to seconds is 206 seconds (edit:205, I forgot I didn't care about the first second)

In better words, I've got some falling to doooooooooooo
