Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Letta Mbulu's "Not Yet Uhuru" speak about the continued struggle for freedom in South Africa, despite the apparent end of apartheid. "Mhlaba wakithi bo" means "our world" or "our land" in Zulu, and the repetition of this phrase emphasizes its importance to the people of South Africa. The second line, "Usemi ndawonye," translates to "let us stick together," emphasizing the need for unity and solidarity in the fight for true freedom.

The next line, "Akukho mehluko kulelizwe," means "there is no difference in this country," highlighting the idea that, despite the end of apartheid, there is still inequality and discrimination that need to be addressed. The chorus, "qhawul'amakhamandela," means "raise up the spear of the people," which is a call to action, urging people to continue fighting for their rights and freedom.

The next verse speaks about the lack of representation for some people in the political process, with the lines "Ah thin'asina voti, silal'emikhukhwini," meaning "we who have no vote, we sit in the stands." This highlights the still-present inequality in the political system in South Africa, despite the end of apartheid. The following lines repeat the call to action found in the chorus.

This is classical but no one will be able to fix the world problems because the enemy will confuse all nations. The beast will leave among us and will decide who will eat and when and how much. The history is not written by the losers but winners. History of today is mix of lies and truth put together to confuse mankind not to remember who they are. The world will never heal no matter what we do. Now slavery has been moved from private individuals to conglomerates firms of this world. Those who were party to enslavement of the world will be enslaved too by the system they created. Here is proof and what we see happening lately in 2023

Revelation 13:16-18

16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[a] That number is 666.
