Paris
Lise Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Paris sous la pluie
Mon ange dort encore
Paris ses mystères
Le boulevard du crime en hiver
Paris le givre
Les bateaux ivres
Paris, la Seine
Vincennes
Paris sous la pluie
Mon ange dort encore
I see Paris I see blue
I see soft silhouettes fading through

So many places but soon they'll rise
As one lonely lonely man

Overall Meaning

In Lise's song, "Paris," the lyrics evoke deep and often contrasting emotions, all while painting a vivid picture of the city of love. The song begins by describing Paris in the rain, with the singer's "angel" still fast asleep. This introduction creates a sense of peace and tranquility that is then altered by the second and third lines, where the "mysteries" and "boulevard du crime" are mentioned, hinting at a more secretive and possibly dangerous side to the city.

The lyrics then explore the winter season in Paris, with "le givre" (frost) and "les bateaux ivres" (drunken boats) adding a somewhat melancholic tone. However, this mood is soon uplifted with the mention of the Seine and Vincennes, two iconic landmarks of the city. The repetition of the first stanza re-establishes the peaceful, sleepy tone, building up to the final lines that embody the essence of the song - seeing Paris and its people through one lonely, isolated individual.

Overall, Lise's lyrics encompass both the beauty and grit of Paris, immersing the listener into its world of romance and intrigue.

@Rolq1
