She waits outside
Her eyes so black
Her feathers white
I kick the fire
Put out the light
Burning embers
Cross the sky
Only at dawn does my angel sing
The crystal wings
They cut like blades
Knock down the strong
Scaring the brave
One muddy sword
One angel owl
We won that war
We're safe for now
But only at dawn does my angel sing
Only at dawn does my angel sing
The song "Angel Owl" by Little Green Cars talks about a guardian angel owl that watches over the singer during stormy nights. The angel owl is described with black eyes and white feathers. The singer puts out the fire and watches the burning embers cross the sky, waiting for dawn when the angel owl will sing. The lyrics seem to convey a sense of fear and vulnerability during the stormy night, but also a feeling of security and protection provided by the angel owl.
The image of the crystal wings cutting like blades is striking and suggests that the angel owl is not just a cute and cuddly creature, but a powerful force that can knock down the strong and scare the brave. The reference to the muddy sword and the war won also adds a hint of a backstory to the song, suggesting that the singer and the angel owl have been through some tough times together. However, the final line of the song reminds us that the angel owl only sings at dawn, hinting that its presence is fleeting and that one can never take protection for granted.
In summary, "Angel Owl" is a poetic and evocative song that mixes elements of folk and rock, conveying a sense of mystery and magic that is both comforting and unsettling.
