You're hanging with your friends again
I waited by the phone
You lose, I choose
To be all by myself
I'm better off alone
Skater boy you listen up'cause I am getting tired
Of your shenanigans
[Chorus]
Emotional Griptape
Better get some today
And watch me skate away
Emotional Griptape
Better get yours today
And watch me skate away
We crash
Road rash
But we won't get up again
This time it's for good
We burn
You turn
But I won't be there
I've tried all I could
Skaterboy you listen up
'cause I am getting tired
Of your shenanigans
[Chorus]
Won't skate on less then Abec 5's
Push me to the back of your mind
You're sponsored by world industries
But you're still not the boy for me
Get a life, get a personality and get some
[(Chorus) 2X]
The song "Emotional Griptape" by LiveonRelease talks about a relationship that is falling apart because the singer is tired of her partner's lack of commitment and care. The scene is at a skate park, which the singer and her partner both enjoy, but her partner is more interested in hanging out with their friends than spending quality time with her. The singer tells her partner that she is better off alone and doesn't want to deal with their "shenanigans" anymore.
The chorus of the song, "Emotional Griptape, Better get some today, And watch me skate away" is a reference to the material that goes on top of a skateboard to provide grip for the rider's feet. The singer is telling her partner that if he doesn't start taking their relationship seriously, she will leave him and skate away without him. The song also mentions the physical dangers of skateboarding, such as crashing and getting road rash, which could be a metaphor for the emotional pain that the singer is feeling.
Overall, "Emotional Griptape" is a breakup song that uses the imagery and language of skateboarding culture to convey the singer's frustration and desire for independence.

Emotional Griptape? THAT'S the fucking actual song title they actually chose for their actual single? This band just keeps getting more and more unreal, man. I'm obsessed with them. They're . . . well, they're quite the curiosity, let's put it THAT way.
