T… Read Full Bio ↴The group was born in 1990 when Andrés Calamaro arrived in Spain.
There he teamed up with Argentinean Ariel Rot, who had already played with him in Argentina, and the Spaniard Julian Infante. Rot and Infante had been composers of the youthful group Tequila. The three of them, along with Germán Vilella, - the other Spaniard in the band, - began their tests and small concerts in Madrid.
At first they were going to call the band 'Los Locos', but they soon found out that there was already an Asturian group with that name. The definitive name is due to Calamaro's amusement from the Spanish expression 'to be in Rodriguez' (when the head of a household must stay in the city for work reasons, while his wife and children enjoy themselves at the beach), because he himself was 'in Rodriguez', since he had left his fiancée in Argentina.
After composing their first songs they released their first album in 1991: 'Buena Suerte', which had great acceptance in Argentina, mainly because of Fabiana Cantilo's cover of the song 'Mi Enfermedad'. In Spain, nevertheless, it did not succeed, mainly because the recording company that published it (Passion) went bankrupt soon after the release. In 1992 they released a live album called 'Disco Pirata', with recordings from their Madrid, Barcelona and Caracas shows. In 1993 they again released a studio record, 'Sin Documentos'. In 1995 they released their last studio album 'Palabras Más, Palabras Menos', with famous songs like 'Mucho Mejor' or 'Milonga Del Marinero Y El Capitán'.
After a final tour, the group decided to separate after releasing a greatest hits album entitled 'Hasta Luego'.
That's Life

That's what all the people say
You're ridin' high in april and shot down in may
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in june
I say, that's life (that's life!)
And as funny as it may seem
But I don't let it, let it get me down
'Cause this fine ol' world, keeps spinning around
I've been a puppet, a profet, a pirate
A poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself, flat on my face
I kick myself back and get back in the race
That's life! (that's life!)
I tell ya, I can't deny it
I thought of quittin' baby
But my heart just ain't gonna buy it
And if I didn't think it was worth, a single time
Jump right on a big bird, an then I'd fly
I've been a puppet, a profet, a pirate
A poet, a pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself lying, flat in my face
I kick myself back and get back in the race
That's life! (that's life!)
That's life, and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cutting out
But my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothing shakin' come this here july
Mmm, I tell ya
I'm gonna roll myself up, in a big ball
And die
Happy Birthday Mr. Frank
Los Rodríguez's "That's Life" is a cover of Frank Sinatra's famous song. The lyrics center around the idea that despite experiencing the highs and lows of life, one must always push forward and strive to succeed. The first verse describes the common saying, "that's life," which is used when someone faces a setback. The singer acknowledges the struggles he has experienced but is determined to overcome them. The line "you're ridin' high in April and shot down in May" essentially means that life can be bittersweet, and the singer recognizes this.
The second verse talks about how some people enjoy stomping on others' dreams. However, the singer refuses to let this bring him down. He demonstrates resilience and acknowledges that the world keeps spinning despite the obstacles he has faced. The next verse describes how the singer has played many different roles in life, such as a poet, a pirate, and a king, further emphasizing the idea that life is full of twists and turns. The singer knows from experience that each time he falls, he must pick himself back up and get back in the race.
In the final verse, the singer continues to express his determination and resilience, saying that he can't deny that life has been tough, but he refuses to give up. He mentions that if things don't go well in July, he could roll himself up into a ball and die. This final line, "Happy Birthday Mr. Frank," is a tribute to the original artist of the song. It emphasizes the fact that the song, while covered by Los Rodríguez, is a classic originally made famous by Frank Sinatra.
