the heart right out of me, I
Have been under your spell
since the day that I
laid eyes on your
your body and your thighs
when time stands still
no need for compromise
I could take you over
I could be your only one
If you give me just a second of your own love
take my heart
don't take me for a fool again
and ill shower you forever in a true romance
right now
They say its time to face the real world
(but we wont)
and we will never give it a chance
(whoa oh oh)
They say its over but we'll fight it
to see the world through to its end
(I wish you could be in love with me
we could stay forever young we could be in love)
I could take you over
I could be your only one
If you give me just a second of your own love
take my heart
don't take me for a fool again
and ill shower you forever in a true romance
right now
take time on second chances
take my heart at a second glance
its a tad unreal but you never knew
the things you loved
could never be so true
I could see myself sleeping
so fall asleep
I could see myself sleeping
next to you
I could feel my heart beating
close to you

One Pitcher vs. One Hitter
This matchup was another one of those matchups in the WBC, but a really special one.
It was a final game of national prestige, but more than that, it felt to me like a pure and supreme battle between two great baseball players.
Trout and Ohtani are both superstars, the best baseball players, and have a special bond.
Their teammates and many spectators cheered and paid attention to them.
But I felt they were focused only on this special moment (matchup).
They looked different from their other matches in the WBC.
Thanks to WBC 2023 for a great matchup between two of the best baseball players.
I hope that next time Trout and Shohei will be the best teammates and fight together for the World Series and win the championship.
Javier Rivera
@BMac well said... it was Bo ability to play 2 sports at an elite level that made him a superstar that even the players where fans and marveled at what he was able to do. I remember Bo and had never seen anything like it until now with Ohtani. That you can do 2 things that others dedicate their entire careers playing just one.
I dont understand why people look for reasons to downplay something so rare and the crazy part is that they try to compare 2 different elite players that might be slightly better at one thing to someone who can do both.
To me he is the new version of Bo even though Shohei is doing it in the same sport but 2 completely different positions. I just hope he stays healthy because we saw what happened to Bo. Sometimes being so gifted can be a curse.
He literally has Jordan level talent for the sport of baseball. Where Jordan was not only the best offensive player in his prime he was also the best defensive player. He was ready to come in from the bullpen to close the game after playing offense the whole game and to come in to finish the game the way he did in the biggest stage possible against one of the best players of all time. The heart, fearlessness and leardeship he showed combined with his talent was jordanesque.
He is just so special and great for the sport of baseball. There is nothing you can tell me to change my views of what Ohtani is doing. I have been watching sports for almost 40 years and have seen some great athletes in pro sports. He is without a doubt an extremely rare breed. Lets appreciate and enjoy it while it last!
I'm an American who has also proudly served as an airborne ranger and I can care less he is Japanese because I love the sport that we created. He can and will inspire little kids not only in America but all over the world.

One of the most amazing and unique moments in the history of sports.
How great was it to see this play out naturally with its own rhythm without the artificiality of the pitch clock?
I dont think any fans think anything was missing because there was no timer or clock involved.
Bring back all the magic of the game!
Abolish the pitch clock!

This is the single greatest moment in organized baseball history to me. Not just because it was two of the greatest players to ever live finally facing each other in a competitive match up. Not just because it was to decide a championship. No, it's the greatest moment because it represented, in a single very high stakes at bat, the culmination of over 150 years of evolution of baseball as a sport.
On one side in Mike Trout stood the US. The inventors of the game. The definitive old guard, where a majority of baseball's foundational history was written and the place that still clings tightly to the belief that it's the best in the World at it and thus it's continued spiritual home.
On the other side in Shohei Ohtani, Japan, and by extension all the countries where baseball developed in America's looming shadow, whose mad love affair with the game and rich domestic baseball history and tradition has historically stood, and in many ways still stands, in the US's shadow on the world stage. The fact that the greatest Japanese players of the last 30 years solidified their international careers and prestige on US rather than Japanese teams, Shohei Ohtani among them, speaks volumes to this.
So, when Trout stepped up to face Ohtani, in that moment it represented much more than a historic first clash of baseball heavyweight players. It represented, in a single at bat, the old and new guards of baseball finally dueling in a setting where absolutely everything was on the line. It represented baseball's full evolution from a merely American sport to a global one, an evolution that had already happened but, because of the fragmented and disconnected nature of global baseball culture, was not widely acknowledged, at least in the United States.
And the old guard, the supposed continued sole spiritual home of baseball, lost.

Still can't believe it ended like this. It's hard to imagine there will ever be a better moment in another WBC.

I remember a scene with Mariano Rivera VS Ichiro Suzuki, when the cast said "Couple of future Hall Of Famers, head to head" and then Ichiro blasts a walk-off homer.
This Ohtani VS Trout scene is another "Couple of future Hall Of Famers, head to head". This time pitcher wins. This is the "true World Series"

my previous favorite baseball moment (up until this at bat) was Ichiro vs Lim Chang-yong in the 2009 WBC final. The intensity from that at bat was unrivaled until today. On one side it was Ichiro representing Japan, enough said. On the other side was Lim, the best closer Korea had at the time. Both country have a strong sense of national pride, not to mention they are age-old rivals especially when it comes to baseball. (On a side note, Korea provoked Japan in the previous round by planting a flag on the mount after winning on the Japanese home soil, but Japan still got through the round) Top of the 10th inning, with each country's pride on the line, Lim Chang-yong was giving it all and Ichiro was taking it in like a quiet samurai that he is. Lim was dishing consecutive heaters with movement, but Ichiro stood his ground, foul tipping Lim 3 times facing a 2-2 count, and finally sending the ball to centre field giving Japan the lead and Japan closed it out in the final inning. Another anecdote here is Lim was actually given the sign to either walk Ichiro, or pitch around the zone. However he ignored it and proceeded to take on Ichiro.
This just shows how important a 1st-tier international competition (like FIFA world cup) is for the sport. I didn't think that moment could be topped at the time, who knew we'd be blessed with Ohtani just so soon after? What a time to be alive as a baseball fan, which the WBC has re-ignited me to be.

Even a movie can't have this kind of storyline and ending. Ohtani is such a true legend and people all over the world had definitely fallen in love with what he achieved.

A movie with this storyline would be written off as too cliched or called out for having such an overly dramatic ending with Marysue character leading the show. Well.... except the thing is Ohtani is real and this game was the real deal also. Sometimes real life events feel even more surreal than the movies
