One Better Day
Madness Lyrics

Arlington house, address: no fixed abode
An old man in a three-piece suit sits in the road
He stares across the water, he sees right through the lock
But on and up like outstretched hands
His mumbled words, his fumbled words, mock

Further down, a photo booth, a million plastic bags
And an old woman filling out a million baggage tags
But when she gets thrown out, three bags at a time
She spies the old chap in the road to share her bags with
She has bags of time

Surrounded by his past, on a short white line
He sits while cars pass either side, takes his time
Trying to remember one better day
A while ago when people stopped to hear him say

Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes

Now she has walked enough through rainy town
She rests her bag against his and sits down
She's trying to remember one better day
A while ago when people stopped to hear her say

Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes
Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes
The feeling of arriving when you've nothing left to lose

Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes
The feeling of arriving when you've nothing left to lose

It's a wonder you've not got any more Thumbs Down's
How could you call these Top Class Talented Men who are still soo popular and Preform Regularly to their Longstanding Fan's
How about Mr McPherson and the "Bag Lady" in the Tube Station (I think it's Highgate if I remember correctly)
That's his Wife, of 41 years, Ann I think her name is Better Bright was her Stage name
Some fuck'n achievement for a "Dork"
What about the rest of the Boy's
Chas Smash, real name,
Cathal Smyth
Have you sampled any of his Solo stuff
Fuck Me, are you calling him a Dork also
Woody Woodgate, Daniel,
Have you checked his Solo Carreer with his brother Nick out
Gob Smacking, for one half of a
Fuck'n Dork as you'd like to call him
As for the rest of the Boy's
There's not enough of RAM on my phone to keep typing about them
All of their songs have hidden serious meaning along with unbelievably funny videos
Not the Brain Fart so called music/lyrics of today
Have you been to any of their concerts over the years
Have you witnessed how friendly and decent everyone is to each other, 10 - 15 % of the Fan's are under 25 years old and down to 14 years old
What they did not do for Homeless and Mentally I'll People is no one's business and never advertised the fact
Hence, On Better Day
Not Bad for a Bunch of "Dork"
Take care Phil

Andrew Kavanagh

Because people choose to ignore the meaning of the song.

Borderline Alcoholic

Suggs photobombed us outside a pub in London a couple of years ago. After he'd walked off with his mates I decided I couldn't let the moment pass so chased him down the road and started singing the chorus to this, and he joined in.

Fast forward to 15th June this year and I saw them play Kenwood House in London. He announced to the crowd they would play one they rarely did live, and then this started!

I swear he did it for me....
