María Rodríguez, also known as La Mala, La Mala María, or Mala Rodríguez, is a Spanish hip hop singer. She was born in Jerez de la Frontera,(Cádiz), 13 February 1979. She moved to Seville when she was 4 and to Madrid when she was 19.
Her hip-hop songs are greatly influenced by flamenco music. Some of her lyrics talk about feminism and the problems of the outcasts of society, but in general they are rather abstract.
She became well known in the Spanish hip-hop scene around 1998/1999 when she collaborated with other Sevilla groups like SFDK. However her style was a lot more rough and hardcore. Later on she crossed-over to the mainstream audience with her solo albums but she left behind most of the edge she had in her beginnings and her sound became more laid-back.
She admitted to having been a heroin junkie in her youth but claims that since then she cleaned up. She used to date rapper/producer Supernafamacho, from the group CPV (the founding fathers of Spanish rap). Later on she got involved with a Cuban MC, from the group Explosión Suprema who's now the father of her first baby.
Her music has been featured of the soundtracks of the Spanish films, Lucía y el Sexo (Sex and Lucía), Yo Puta (her songs were used on the movie's television adverts and trailers), the Mexican film, Y tu Mamá También, and the French film, L'Auberge espagnole.
She was also featured on the soundtrack for the EA Sports FIFA 2005 and Scarface: The World is Yours video games.
Most recently, her single "Por la noche" was featured in the Spanish film, "Yo Soy la Juani" (2007). She has also recorded "Mala Suerta con el 13" ("Mala, Loose with -Residente, from Calle- 13) with the Puerto Rican rap duo Calle 13.

Qué mierda ere
Mala Rodriguez
Tengo treinta y tres
Salimos a bolsa haciendo daño, cúbrete
Con cuidadito te he dicho mi amor
Vamos a matarte despacito
No te pongas vacilón que me conozco, complico
¿Dónde está mi Buda cuando lo necesito?
Troto sin mover un deo
Creo porque pueo
Acelero el peo sin cuidao
Te voy a follar sin deseo, fa-fa-fácil
Te quiero sólo por el físico
Tú y yo no tenemos relación
Estamos vacíos, no tenemos corazón
Come, come, come, hago y deshago
Belleza, te va a tocar estudiar
Hincar los codos en la mesa
Te voy hartá a trabajar, si te agacha
Hablas mucha mierda
Te hace falta algo, hm, no sé
Anda busca ayuda
Mala Rodríguez's song "33" is a powerful commentary on gender, societal roles, and power dynamics. The opening lines "Qué mierda ere, illo, en serio/ Qué mierda ere" set the tone for the rest of the song, as Mala speaks with authority and commands attention. She starts by declaring her age, 33, and making it clear that she is capable of doing a man's job. She then goes on to criticize the harm that corporations can cause when they go public, and urges those who can't handle the pressure to leave.
The song takes a turn towards a more personal narrative when Mala talks about her upbringing and how she was raised. She warns others not to mess with her or they will face consequences, and expresses her frustration with the emptiness she sees around her. She questions where the war and peace are, and where the men and their "balls of steel" have gone. She seems to have little patience for those who can't keep up with her, and confidently proclaims her superiority.
Throughout the song, Mala uses language that is bold, unapologetic, and at times vulgar. She challenges societal norms and expectations, and makes it clear that she will not be silenced or constrained by anyone's expectations. Her words are a powerful call to action for women everywhere to speak up and demand respect.
