Crystal
Mannheim Steamroller Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
(Hey)
We break easy
(Hoo)
I'm a poor man
(Hey)
If you leave me
(Hoo)
(Hey)
Then forgotten
It was summer
(Hey)
Now it's autumn
(Hoo)
I don't know what to say
You don't care anyway
I'm a man in a rage
With a girl I betrayed
Here comes love
It's like honey
You can't buy it with money
You shook me to the core
You shook me to the core
(Hoo, hey)
We're like crystal
(Hey)
It's not easy
(Hoo)
With your love
(Hey)
You could feed me
(Hoo)
Every man
(Hey)
And every woman
(Hoo)
Needs someone
(Hey)
So keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
I don't know what to say
You don't care anyway
I'm a man in a rage
With a girl I betrayed
Here comes love
It's like honey
You can't buy it with money
You're not alone anymore
You shook me to the core
You shook me to the core
I don't know what to say
You don't care anyway
I'm a man in a rage
With a girl I betrayed
Here comes love
It's like honey
You can't buy it with money
You're not alone anymore
You shook me to the core
You shook me to the core
You shook me to the core
You shook me to the core
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
Keep it coming
The song "Crystal" by Mannheim Steamroller talks about relationships and the fragility of human connections. The first line says "We're like crystal, we break easy," which means that relationships, like glass, can easily shatter if someone's not careful. The next line talks about the fear of being left alone and the struggle of being poor. The next stanza talks about the fleeting nature of fame; you could be applauded one day, and the next day, you're forgotten - just like summer turns into autumn. The refrain goes back to the idea of not knowing what to say, but love comes and shakes everything up like honey, which can't be bought with money.
The next stanza starts with the idea that love is necessary to survive - "every man and every woman needs someone." The repetition of "keep it coming" emphasizes the importance of maintaining love in a relationship. The refrain goes back to the idea of being thanked for shaking someone to their core, which is a sign that they are no longer alone.
Overall, "Crystal" is about the vulnerability of being in a relationship, the fear of being left alone, and the importance of love to survive. The song conveys these themes through its somber and reflective tone and its repetitive lyrics.

This song literally gives me chills. It sounds much more like a haunted house theme song than something about a Crystal.

Wow such a wonderful and relaxing melody :)

This is from Mannheim Steamroller's book with CD inside called, HALLOWEEN: THE WORLD BETWEEN. The whole thing is great and I play the CD on Halloween night from a player hidden in the bushes - also obscured by fog.

I like this song even though it reminds me of being stranded in the middle of nowhere in the dead of winter because my car broke down and I get rescued by a St Bernard dog pulling a sled.
@JAGraptor
Would almost make for a good 80s space theme.

When my brother and i were younger we pretended we were in a haunted forest with this song.

I found the creepiest part to be at 2:28 when the synth bass kicks in, since it seems so out of place in an already creepy-enough song...

Makes me think of an ice/snow covered palace for an evil wizard-king
