1) Is a project by Martin Schindler founded on or about 1997 which disbanded in 2005 but reunited in 2008. Both Martin Schindler and Tina Schindler are also active in electro act Black Heaven and metal outfit Sepia.
The band's name derives from Roman and Etruscan mythology, where Mantus and his wife, Mania were gods of the underworld. They were associated with the city Mantua. Mantus was identified as the "leader of souls", escorting the souls of the dead down into the underworld.
As already said, Mantus is a project by Martin Schindler. But his idea of dark romance only could have been realised by alternating singing of female and male voices. That's why he involved his sister always named as Thalia, which is certainly not her real name.
So the alternating female/male-singing is one incisive aspect of Mantus' musical appearance. Overall the style of the music ranges doom-metal to some kind of pop. The texts contain themes like love, hate, death, perpetuity or immortality but also criticism on global problems as racism, xenophobia and rape.
The reason for their minor popularity in spite of existing for 8 years and releasing 6 albums is that they never gave concerts or appeared in the charts (they never had any ambitions, too).

Königreich der Angst
Mantus Lyrics

doch etwas hält mich wach
und was nach außen strahlt
glüht innen nur ganz schwach
Ein seltsames Vertrauen
das sich mit mir vereint
die Stimme die dich ruft
Ein seltsames Gefühl
das mich vom Leben trennt
die Ohnmacht in mir drinnen
ist was du Liebe nennst
Hab ich dich je gesucht?
Ich wünschte du wärst hier
und daß du mich erkennst...
Ein Gebet aus Blut und Tränen
mein Herz in deiner Hand
eingeschlossen von Ruinen
ein Königreich der Angst
Ich fühl mich wie gelähmt
und kniee dort im Staub
ein einziges Wort von dir
wenn du noch an mich glaubst
Ich könnte nicht entkommen
hier gibt es kein Versteck
nur Asche, Staub und Dreck...
The lyrics of "Königreich der Angst" by Mantus convey a feeling of inner turmoil and a sense of being separated from the world around the singer. The beginning of the lyrics suggest that while the singer could rest indefinitely, something is keeping them awake. Though they appear fine on the outside, there is a deep struggle within them that makes them feel disconnected from the rest of the world. They also mention a strange feeling of trust and unity that they feel, hinting towards a possible relationship with someone.
The second half of the lyrics discuss the singer's wish to have someone with them, possibly a lover, who could understand them and provide comfort. They describe their emotions as a "kingdom of fear" that they are trapped within, and how they feel paralyzed by it. They mention that they are kneeling in dust and that they feel powerless. However, the singer holds on to the hope that this person they long for - who may or may not exist - still believes in them and can provide them with the strength to break free from their fears.
Overall, the lyrics to this song are very introspective and emotional, exploring the complexities of human emotions and how they can affect us in ways we might not expect.
