The group features in their discography an EP ("self-titled" released in 2014), the first full album ("Lado Turvo, Lugares Inquietos", released in 2016) and the latest release, the second album "O Cão de Toda Noite", released in October 2019. Over the span of six years since Maquinas was formed, its songs and performances have caught the attention and triggered the curiosity of new listeners outside Fortaleza.
The release of the first album led the band to make their first tour in the northeast (in 2016) and southeast regions of Brazil (in 2017), as well as having received invitations to perform in important venues of the Brazilian alternative music scene, having performed, for example, at the Feira da Música (2016), Maloca Dragão Festival (2017 and 2018) and at the São Paulo Cultural Center/CCSP (2018). With the recent release of their second album, the band now plans to be able to perform even more in 2020, and in even more diverse venues inside and outside the country.

Maquinas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
são só 11 horas
com o rancor em meu bolso
eu atropelo a noite
a minha pistola carregada com raiva reprimida
mata a queima roupa o otário na esquina
em meu carro em chamas eu acho o meu rumo
120 por hora direto no seu muro
jogado em seu quarto
tem algo a dizer
"eu errei mais uma vez"
The lyrics of Máquinas's "Drive By" describe a character's emotional turmoil and destructive behavior as they navigate their way through a night of recklessness. The first line, "hoje eu volto sozinho" ("today I return alone"), sets the tone of loneliness and isolation that will permeate throughout the song. The singer then mentions that it's only 11 pm, implying that it's early in the night and there's still a long way to go. The line "com o rancor em meu bolso" ("with resentment in my pocket") suggests that there's something troubling the character and that they're carrying their anger with them as they drive.
As the song progresses, the singer's internal struggle manifests in their actions. They speed through the city at 120 km/h, ignoring traffic rules and endangering themselves and others. The reference to a loaded gun indicates that their anger is boiling over and they're willing to do something rash. The line "em meu carro em chamas eu acho o meu rumo" ("in my flaming car, I find my way") is a metaphor for the singer's life spiraling out of control, but still feeling like they're heading somewhere.
The song's violent imagery culminates in the final lines, where the singer crashes into someone's wall and reflects on their actions. The mention of their "corpo rasgado" ("torn body") adds a visceral and gruesome detail to the scene. The final words, "eu errei mais uma vez" ("I've made another mistake"), reveal that the character is aware of their destructive tendencies but feels powerless to stop them.
Overall, "Drive By" can be read as a commentary on the self-destructive nature of anger and the consequences of letting it consume you. The singer's actions speak to a feeling of being trapped and unable to escape their own emotions.
