Toma De Mí
Marc Anthony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Vuelvo a ti
A lo peor de mí
Le estoy buscando cura
Para que nunca rose tú hermosura
Lo peor de mí
Me esquiva y desdibuja
Me esquiva y desdibuja
Tomarte no me hará jamas feliz
Tan bruja y tan princesa
Pero en fin, pero en fin
Lo peor de ti
Es cómo aquellas frutas
Que aún ácidas endulzan
Lo peor de mí
Lo peor
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Que tú eres mi fortuna, no cabe duda)
Que eres la dueña de mi corazón
Y como tú no habrá ninguna
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Que tú eres mi fortuna, no cabe duda)
Es que tu ere' lo má' grande pa' mí
Mamita no me queda duda
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
The song "Toma De Mí" by Marc Anthony is about being vulnerable in front of the person you love. The artist admits to hiding the worst parts of himself, such as his fears, doubts, and past emotional wounds, in order to avoid scaring away his lover. The bad parts of him are like a vicious dog that threatens the love he shares with his partner, and he needs to find a cure for it in order to protect the beauty of their relationship. He recognizes that his sweetheart is the greatest thing in his life, and there is nobody like her.
By contrast, the best thing about himself is that he is certain that his devotion for her is unwavering. He sees his partner as a combination of a witch and a princess, and despite the fact, she might have some negative qualities or flaws, she is still the most important person in his life. Through the lyrics, the singer conveys his feelings of how love can make a person feel vulnerable, but it is worth it to him because of the person he is with.

Lo peor de mí
The worst of me
I hide it in a place far from you
Lo blindo bajo llave, por que así
I lock it up, because that way
Tan solo ves mis alas, mi jardín
You only see my wings, my garden
De promesas para ti
Of promises for you
Mis miedos y mis dudas de marfil
My fears and doubts of ivory
Las guerras que me dejan, cicatriz
The wars that leave scars on me
I keep them for a while and then come back to you
Vuelvo a ti
I come back to you
Le estoy buscando cura
I'm looking for a cure
Para que nunca rose tú hermosura
So that it never touches your beauty
Me esquiva y desdibuja
It dodges and blurs me
Seeing my fortune in your two eyes
Es que no tengo duda
I have no doubt
Que cómo tú no habrá ninguna
That there will be no one like you
Lo amarro como un perro, para huir
I tie it up like a dog, to run away
Sus dientes solo quieren, destruir
Its teeth only want to destroy
All the love you feel for me today
Hoy por mí
Today for me
Aún sigue siendo bueno para mí
It still remains good for me
Tomarte no me hará jamas feliz
Taking you will never make me happy
Tan bruja y tan princesa
So witch and so princess
Pero en fin, pero en fin
But in the end, but in the end
Es cómo aquellas frutas
It's like those fruits
Que aún ácidas endulzan
That still sweeten when sour
(Es que no ves, tú no ves)
(Don't you see, you don't see)
(Que tú eres mi fortuna, no cabe duda)
(That you are my fortune, there is no doubt)
Que eres la dueña de mi corazón
That you are the owner of my heart
Y como tú no habrá ninguna
And there will be no one like you
Es que tu ere' lo má' grande pa' mí
You are the greatest thing for me

En medio del mar,
Buscando un puerto,
Y anclar.
Volver a amar,
Y yo te quiero liberar,
Y tú no ves lo que te puedo dar.
Estribillo
Toma de mí,
Toma mi alma y sanaré mi alegría.
Toma mi cuerpo y sanaré tus heridas,
Totalmente.
Toma de mí,
Toma mi fe y seré yo el mar de tú isla.
Toma mi amor y volverás a la vida misma.
Lentamente.
No te arrepentirás no,
Ya no des marcha atrás,
Ya no des marcha atrás
Volando así hacia el fondo,
De la soledad,
Nada puedo hacer.
Cierras tus alas,
Volver a amar,
Y yo te quiero liberar,
Y tú no ves lo que te puedo dar.
Estribillo
Toma de mí,
Toma mi alma y te daré mi alegría.
Toma mi cuerpo y sanaré tus heridas,
Totalmente.
Toma de mí,
Toma mi fe y seré yo el mar de tú isla.
Toma mi amor y volverás a la vida misma.
Lentamente.
Toma de mi,
Toma mi fe y seré yo el mar de tú isla.
Toma mi amor y volverás a la vida misma.
Lentamente,
No te arrepentirás no,
Ya no des marcha atrás,
Ya no des marcha atrás
