Griffin was raised in the Bay Area, where his mother rented from singer-songwriter, Tracy Chapman. During his teenage years, he moved to Mill Valley and attended Tamalpais High School. After graduation, he went to UC Santa Cruz for music but only stayed there for two years and left school to start 2AM Club in Los Angeles.

But to tell the truth girl, that didn't stop me
Said you wanted to get the Wraith, I'ma cop that
Pull up and now you drop dead
Now we picking up every time you drop that
And your next dude, you know I'ma top that
And she wanna come back, she wanna come back to me
Now she wanna come back she wanna come back to me
But she don't fly my way unless I'm on PJ
That gossip, all you say my baby you got so L.A
Can't believe you're so simple like that
Can't believe you're so simple
Can't believe you're so simple like that
Can't believe you're so simple
When I got on girl, you didn't trust me
But to tell you the truth girl, that didn't bug me
You came to my party, with your young socialite
I slid a couple 'cause I was cold as ice
Then the next morining you gon' tell me you love me
Now she wanna come back, she wanna come back to me
Now she wanna come back, now she wanna come back to me
But she don't fly my way unless I'm on PJ
That gossip, all you say my baby you got so L.A
Can't believe you're so simple like that
Can't believe you're so simple
Can't believe you're so simple like that
Can't believe you're so simple
She's so simple, she's so cliché
She's so gossip, she say, he say
She wants me back, says that each day
But I don't repeat, and I don't replay
She moved to Weho, now that's where she stay
Went up on weekday, she f- the DJ
She won't fly my way, unless I'm on PJ
She lied to me, I would die before I betray
Anyone I love most, Anyone I hold close
Sniffing all her love up, OD off of one dose
One shot, play me, I become ghost
You could be the prettiest, but ugly when it's up close
Used to be my type, now I'm off those
Driving through the city full of lost souls
Just be careful look out for the potholes
But now I know how to spot those
But she don't drive my car, unless I'm on a boulevard
That vintage fits you good
You getting known in Hollywood (hey)
Can't believe you're so simple like that
Can't believe you're so simple (I can't believe it)
Can't believe you're so simple like that
Can't believe you're so simple (yeah)
The song "So Simple" by Marc E. Bassy features the story of a girl who wasn't interested in him when he was broke, but now wants to come back to him because he is successful. He reveals that she only wants to fly his way when he is on a private jet and that she is caught up in the LA gossip scene. The song expresses Bassy's disbelief at how easily she is swayed by money and status.
In the first verse, Bassy reminisces about a time when he didn't have much, and the girl wasn't interested in him because of that. However, he didn't let that phase him, and now that he is wealthy, he sees that his success has caught her attention. The chorus emphasizes Bassy's disbelief that she is so simple and easily impressed by his material possessions.
The second verse further highlights her fickle nature, as Bassy reveals that she didn't trust him initially but now claims to love him. He also brings up her love of gossip and states that she only wants to be with him when he is on a private jet. The bridge features him calling her out for being cliché and gossiping about him behind his back.
Overall, "So Simple" is a song about the shallow nature of some people and how they can be obsessed with money, status, and gossip. It explores how easily people can be swayed by material possessions and how it can negatively affect relationships.
