Griffin was raised in the Bay Area, where his mother rented from singer-songwriter, Tracy Chapman. During his teenage years, he moved to Mill Valley and attended Tamalpais High School. After graduation, he went to UC Santa Cruz for music but only stayed there for two years and left school to start 2AM Club in Los Angeles.
Marc started his music career as the lead singer of 2AM Club, releasing an album and mixtape. However, the band was dropped by its label Sony/ATV and went on an indefinite hiatus starting June 29, 2015. Marc went to live with his friend in Los Angeles and wrote songs for other artists. After releasing Only the Poets and East Hollywood and receiving positive critical reception, he was signed to Universal Republic Records.
Bassy embarked on his first headlining tour, the Bebe & Bassy Tour with American singer and songwriter [urlhttps://www.last.fm/music/Bebe+Rexha/]Bebe Rexha in October 2017. The tour consists of 23 dates across the United States in support of Bassy's debut album Gossip Columns, released on October 13, and Rexha's EP All Your Fault: Pt. 2.

Hit me later on for some deep stroking
Iβ²ve been writing songs just to keep coping
Check him every month, put a lease on it
Put a ring on it if you're married to it
Lifestyle of the rich and foolish
All my wives just become users
All my dimes just become shooters
She told me
"No more late night leaving"
I told her, "Baby itβ²s the season
Everybody's tryna make a way
And I can never trust a word you say"
Fuck if i get rich, I still got my brothers
You ain't nothing new, you just singing covers
Donβ²t carry the torch if they call my number
I probably live on, I donβ²t use no rubbers
Summer Seventeen, and it's hotβ² than ever
Let's go to my spot, just got it together
I donβ²t got no love, but I really do though
That's how we get taught, Imma love my crew though
So she said
"No more late night leaving"
I told her, "Baby itβ²s the season
Everybody's tryna make a way
And I can never trust a word you say"
I'll be loyal baby, I swear I will be
If I step out of line, girl itβ²s still me
In a Audi, but Iβ²m leaning like the Sun Impala
Acting boujee, girl I've never seen you at MET Gala
You a groupie, baby donβ²t go blame it on ya momma
Plus a dude is basic, probably take you to Cortana
Got beads in my bracelet, let me speak a little mantra
Fake it till you make it, that's the only way to prosper
I donβ²t see the difference between trap or doctor
Used to see the priest as someone with nothing to offer
Lately I've been talking like I got a holy father
Really always felt like music kept from me a higher power
If i donβ²t speak my mind it was just a wasted hour
All in line for line let the story be about us
"No more late night leaving"
I told her, "Baby it's the season
Everybody's tryna make a way
And I can never trust a word you say"
The lyrics to Marc E. Bassy's The Season convey the artist's struggles with fame, relationships, and maintaining loyalty to his friends. He discusses the highs and lows of his lifestyle, stating that if he becomes rich, he will still stick by his brothers. Furthermore, he implies that people only want him for his money and success, and he can never trust anyone's word. In the chorus, he pleads with his partner not to leave him as he feels everyone is trying to make it in the game, and no one can be trusted.
The second verse portrays his resentment towards those who use him for fame and money. He speaks of his newfound lavish lifestyle and how it has changed his perception of those around him. He simultaneously reflects on his past, emphasizing that he will still love his crew even after all that has changed. Towards the end of the song, Marc shifts gears and speaks of music's significance in his life, stating that it is what's kept him from falling away from a higher power. Overall, The Season conveys the struggles that come with fame and the internal conflicts that arise as a result.
