With music composed by Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota, the adventurous score was recorded in late August 2007.
Kondo often asked much of the orchestra, such as playing at strange tempos in order to best sync with Mario's natural movements or incorporating sound effects into the orchestra scores themselves. The attention to detail paid off, and the soundtrack has since received much acclaim from both fans and critics alike, notably winning "Best Design in Audio" from Edge Magazine.

Going Under
The purple coin stars from easiest to hardest for me:
1. Good Egg
2. Honeyhive
3. Beach Bowl
4. Deep Dark (1 - 4 are just stupidly easy but still nice and relaxing to finish)
5. Sea Slide (really time consuming and it's easy to miss odd coins)
6. Gateway (mostly the ones in the sky. I'm terrible at flying)
7. Gold Leaf (It's easier with Mario but with Luigi it's easy to slip off the first part)
8. Space Junk (Really thin paths and only 2 minutes so you basically have to run. Also easy to get lost or slip)
9. Dusty Dune (The fucking sand)
10. Melty Molten (I hate lava)
11. Freezeflame (mostly fine except the part you have to jump up the pumps of water to reach the summit. It takes me ages everytime)
12. Battle Rock (dreadnought lite)
13. Toy Time (really not as hard as everyone says imo, just a little annoying)
14. Gusty Garden (personally I did it first time trying but I only had a few seconds left. Stressful)
15. Ghostly (if there weren't so many of those bouncers it would be higher up)
16. Dreadnought (fuck the people who made that star)
