É o bonde do dom que me leva
Os anjos que me carregam
Os automóveis que me cercam
Os santos que me projetam
Nas asas do bem desse mundo
Carregam um quintal lá no fundo
A água do mar me bebe
A sede de ti prossegue
A sede de ti
Novo dia
É o bonde do dom que me leva
Os anjos que me carregam
Os automóveis que me cercam
Os santos que me projetam
Nas asas do bem desse mundo
Carregam um quintal lá no fundo
A água do mar me bebe
A sede de ti prossegue
A sede de ti prossegue
A sede de ti
Marisa Monte's "O Bonde do Dom" is a love song filled with metaphors and poetic language. It is about the singer's intense love for someone and the ways in which that love lifts her up and drives her forward. She sings about how every new day brings thoughts of this person and how that makes her feel light and free, almost immune to suffering. Despite working hard in her craft, she can never complain because her love gives her the strength to keep going. She also dreams of marrying this person, and sees their union as a way to elevate themselves socially, yet it is the act of making music for this person that brings her the most joy.
Throughout the song, Marisa uses imagery to convey the power of her love. She compares it to a train that carries her forward (the "bonde do dom"), and to angels, cars, and saints who are all working together to support her. She also imagines herself drinking from the ocean and feeling perpetually thirsty for this person. All of these metaphors work together to create a vivid picture of the intensity and passion of her feelings.
Overall, "O Bonde do Dom" is a beautiful and romantic tribute to love, and a celebration of the ways in which it can bring joy and meaning to life.
