Na enxurrada seca
A trovoada seca
Ô chuva vem me dizer
A boiada seca
Na enxurrada seca
A trovoada seca
Na enxada seca
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem vem
Vem me dizer (Ô chuva vem)
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem vem
Vem me dizer, vem vem
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem, ô chuva vem me dizer
A boiada seca
Na enxurrada seca
A trovoada seca
Na enxada seca
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem
Ô chuva vem me dizer, vem vem vem
Vem me dizer (Ô chuva)
Vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem, o chuva vem me dizer, vem vem
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem
Ô chuva vem vem vem
Ô chuva vem, vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem me dizer
Ô chuva vem vem vem vem vem vem vem
Marisa Monte's song Segue o Seco speaks about the impacts of drought on people's lives. Through a metaphor of a dry cow herd, dry rain, and dry land, she describes the harsh reality of the arid regions where people struggle to find water to survive. The opening lines talk about a dry cow herd in a dry flood and dry thunder, reflecting the difficulty of livestock to survive in a water-scarce environment. The phrase "Segue o seco" means "Follow the dry," which emphasizes the people's adaptability to the adverse living conditions that surround them. Despite the presence of dry thorns and the sun-dried beings, the people continue to follow the dry path, unknowingly leading themselves to their own destruction.
The chorus speaks of the desperation for rain, the only hope for sustaining life in this arid landscape. The singer begs the rain to come to their rescue and drench them with water so that they can live sustainably. She abhors the dryness of everything around her and asks the rain to come and save those in dire need. The final lines of the song talk about tears from Saint Peter and overflowing love, which symbolize the extent of despair and need for water in the region.
