After Take That split, Owen became the third of the band's ex-members to release a solo record. He reached number three in the UK Singles Chart with his debut single, Child. His second single, Clementine, also went to number three. In 1997 his album Green Man was released, charting at a number 33. After another single, I Am What I Am, charted at number 29, Owen was dropped by BMG Records in late 1997.
In 2002 Mark won the second series of Celebrity Big Brother. After being invited to perform on stage with Robbie Williams at Knebworth, he returned to the spotlight and signed a deal with Island/Universal Records. In August 2003, Owen returned to the charts with the Top 5 hit, Four Minute Warning, which remained in the Top 40 for eight weeks. His second album, In Your Own Time, was released in November 2003, entering the charts at number 59. After a second single, Alone Without You, charted at number 26, Owen was dropped by Island/Universal Records.
In April 2004 he established his own record company, Sedna Records. He released his third solo album, How the Mighty Fall in 2005, which was recorded at Sunset Studios, Los Angeles in 2004. In February 2006 he released Hail Mary as a single from the album.
In 2005 Mark rejoined the newly reformed Take That and has been enjoying chart success with them ever since. He still plans, however, to continue working on solo projects.
Falling Star
Mark Owen Lyrics

What is it you have in store for me,
Privately been my own company,
I pray to you,
Askin' you,
What lies ahead,
What lies ahead.
Is there a part in your play for me,
Your silence is killin' me peacefully,
I need to know, need to know,
Where is the love,
Where is the love.
-chorus-
Let the falling star,
Grace the sky again.
Let the broken heart,
Be filled with love again.
Oh lord,
Is there a place in her life for me,
Do you think she will remember me,
How we used to be,
I'm askin' you,
Trustin' you,
Putting my faith in you.
Lord,
Please find a moment to spare for me,
Choose carefully,
I'm comin' on,
Twist of tongue,
Now i know right from wrong,
Make me strong,
Hear my song,
Hear my song,
Be filled with love again.
-chorus-
Let the falling star,
Grace the sky again.
Let the broken heart,
Be filled with love again.
Can you do this time for me,
I'm askin' you,
I'm askin' you,
Trustin' you,
Putting my faith in you lord.
So get up again,
Get up again,
Where is the love,
Where is the love.
I can see you climb,
I can see you climb,
I can see you,
I can see you,
See you climb,
So high,
So high,
So high.
The lyrics of Mark Owen's "Falling Star" convey a sense of vulnerability and yearning for direction and guidance from a higher power. The opening lines express a sense of loneliness, with the singer having been "privately [their] own company" and now looking to the "lord" for guidance as to what lies ahead. There is a sense of desperation in the repetition of "I need to know, need to know, where is the love," as the singer seeks reassurance and support.
The chorus of the song echoes this plea, asking for a "falling star" to "grace the sky again" and for a "broken heart" to be "filled with love again." The singer seems to be grappling with a sense of loss or heartbreak, asking if there is still a place in someone's life for them and hoping to be remembered as they once were. The repeated phrases "I'm askin' you, trustin' you, putting my faith in you" convey a sense of surrender and faith in the face of uncertainty.
The closing verses of the song find the singer finding courage and strength, knowing "right from wrong" and asking the lord to make them strong. The final repetition of "Where is the love" is a haunting cry that leaves the listener with a sense of longing and uncertainty.

I get that. I play Mark Owen to people and are always shocked when I say who it is. I think because he wasn't Robbie Williams the press kinda put him to a side.
