In 2001, the band regrouped, with guitarist James Valentine added to the line-up, and pursued a new direction under the name: Maroon 5. At this point, Jesse Carmichael switched to playing the keyboards and this has become his main instrument in the band (although he also plays rhythm guitar to this day). After these changes, Maroon 5 signed with Octone Records and released their debut album, "Songs About Jane", in June 2002. The album's lead single "Harder to Breathe", received heavy airplay, which helped the album to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. For the next few years, the band toured extensively worldwide in support of Songs About Jane and produced two live recordings: 2004's "1.22.03.Acoustic" and 2005's "Live Friday the 13th". In 2006, Ryan Dusick officially left the band after suffering from serious wrist and shoulder injuries and was replaced by Matt Flynn. The band recorded their second album, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" and released it in May 2007. The album reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder", became the band's first number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
On September 21, 2010, the band released their third studio album entitled "Hands All Over". It was re-released in 2011 to include the single "Moves like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera). While the original version of the album received mixed reviews, "Moves like Jagger" reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band released their next album, "Overexposed", on June 26, 2012. All four singles of the album were really successful on the charts - for example, the second single from Overexposed, "One More Night" (released on June 19, 2012), reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2014, the band signed with Interscope Records and released their fifth studio album, "V", with the very-first line-up of six official band members, as keyboardist and backing vocalist PJ Morton became an official member in 2012. The album debuted at top of the weekly Billboard 200 chart. Since its debut in 2002, the band has sold more than 15 million albums in the United States and over 100 million singles and 27 million albums worldwide.
Woman
Maroon 5 Lyrics

Would you tell me
That the time just isn't right
And if i ever find the key you hide so well
Will you tell me
That I can spend the night
Leaving your smell on my coat
I still fail to understand
What it is about this woman
Yeah ow wow
If I could bottle up the chills that you give me
I would keep them
In a jar next to my bed
And if i should ever draw a picture of a woman
It is you
That would come flowing through my pen
Leaving your clothes on the floor
Making me walk out the door
And i still fail to understand
What it is about this woman
Ow
Helplessly melting
As i stand next to the sun
As you burn me
I am screaming out for more
Drink every drop of liquid
In the heat that I've become
Pop me open
Spoon me out onto the floor
Leaving your smell on my coat
Leaving your taste on my shoulder
I still fail to understand
Fail to understand
Leaving your smell on my coat
Leaving your taste on my shoulder
I still fail to understand
What it is about this woman
Yeah
These lyrics from Maroon 5's song "Woman" delve into the complex emotions of desire and confusion that can occur in a romantic relationship. The opening lines suggest a hesitation or uncertainty on the part of the singer - he wonders if he should make a move towards the woman he desires, but fears rejection. He asks if she would tell him if the time isn't right or if he can't spend the night, indicating a desire for clarity and honesty in their interactions.
The second verse builds on this theme of admiration and attraction, with the singer expressing a desire to capture and hold onto the sensations she gives him. He mentions the act of drawing a picture, and how only she would inspire him. The final lines of the verse suggest that she has a power over him that he cannot quite understand or control.
The final verse is the most vivid and passionate, with the singer describing his physical yearning for the woman. He uses metaphors of heat and melting to describe his arousal, and the idea of "drink[ing] every drop of liquid" suggests a hunger that cannot be sated. Despite this intense desire, however, the singer still seems to be struggling to understand what draws him to this woman so powerfully.
Overall, these lyrics capture the complex mix of fear, admiration, and desire that can make up a romantic relationship. The singer is clearly drawn to the woman he describes, but fears rejection or misinterpretation of his advances, while also feeling powerless in the face of her allure.

Will you let me stay with you?
Leaving your smell on my coat

Even after you leave your mark on me,

By my bedside
And if i should ever draw a picture of a woman
It is you
That would come flowing through my pen
If I were to portray any woman in art,
It would be you,
Inspiring all my creativity
Leaving your clothes on the floor
Making me walk out the door
And i still fail to understand
What it is about this woman
Ow
You leave your clothes scattered everywhere,
Causing me to leave reluctantly
And still, I can't figure out
Why you have such an effect on me
Ow
Helplessly melting
As i stand next to the sun
As you burn me
I am screaming out for more
I'm gradually succumbing
As I draw closer to your radiant warmth
I'm practically begging for more
As you scorch me
Drink every drop of liquid
In the heat that I've become
Pop me open
Spoon me out onto the floor
Consume every last bit of the passion within me
As I become an inferno
Open me up
And take me entirely
Leaving your smell on my coat
Leaving your taste on my shoulder
I still fail to understand
Fail to understand
Even though I carry your scent on me,
And taste lingers on my skin,
I just can't seem to grasp
What it is that makes you irresistible
Leaving your smell on my coat
Leaving your taste on my shoulder
I still fail to understand
What it is about this woman
Yeah
Your fragrance clings to my jacket,
Your flavor lingers on my shoulder
But I continue to struggle
To comprehend what sets you apart
Yeah
