Dont Tell Me The Time
Martha Davis Lyrics

Uneasy eyes rest on a clock
A nervous hand reveals a watch
A sudden glance, a painful smile
And minutes slip away

Unsettled heart would skip a beat
A tired heart can find no peace
A lonely sound, the clock ticks on
And hours slip away
Don't tell me the time
I don't want to know
Don't tell me the time
You spend with her
Can't hurt me it does
Don't tell me the time
'Cause time can be cruel
Every moment that I'm away from you

Where did you go, don't want to know
Why are you here is never clear
Make love just once, you're gone again
And I'm alone with time

Don't tell me the time
I don't want to know
Don't tell me the time
You spend with her
Can't hurt me it does
Don't tell me the time
'Cause time can be cruel

And I still can't believe how long
The night keeps me waiting here for you
Prisoner of time, no dream comes true
Waiting and watching
Lost in forever without you

Don't tell me the time
I don't want to know
Don't tell me the time
You spend with her
Can't hurt me it does
Don't tell me the time
'Cause time can be cruel
Every moment that I'm away from you

"Australian friends" is that psychology being used before a reprimand?

Perhaps your statement of C-A is a bit subjective? Perhaps exaggeration of the "best of all time" could be evidence of this?

Degrees are in the eye of the beholder. C-A is better then M-D, but in my preference of taste, M-D puts a theatrical performance into her songs, which draws me into her story.

This is pure art. She connects with the recipient. And in her 70's still writing, performing.

Plumb (I'm sure you haven't heard of before) is another artist with the same style as M-D. Sings her songs through life's tragedies, drawing you into her world.

Martha Davis was an interesting talent... no doubt.
Underrated, but not forgotten.

Take the L!

Martha Davis, and the Motels for that matter, were the kind of artistry you either got, or you didn't. I'll always be a fan because she never "popped it up" just to have a hit.

I just love her voice she's almost crying passionately every song
