Ze werd geboren als Marva Mollet, groeide op in Blankenberge. Op 20-jarige leeftijd nam ze haar debuutsingle, Geef me nog een kans (1963) op. In 1964 huwde ze met haar manager en bracht één zoon op de wereld.
Tussen 1963 en 1980 scoorde ze hits in Vlaanderen met Een eiland in groen en blauw (1967), Fiesta (1969), Niemand wil je als je ongelukkig bent (1974), Rode rozen in de sneeuw (1975) en Oempalapapero (1975).
In 1980 nam ze afscheid van haar publiek met het nummer Herinneringen. Ze wilde wat meer tijd voor haar privéleven. Sindsdien heeft ze geen nieuwe nummers uitgebracht, noch opgetreden. Ze begon een nieuw leven als winkelierster in Blankenberge en Oostende.
Eind 2006 werd Marva ook opgenomen in de Eregalerij van Radio 2 vanwege "Een leven vol muziek". Laura Lynn nam toen een virtueel duet op met haar en coverde Rode rozen in de sneeuw. Het nummer waar Marva's originele opname uit 1975 doorheen gemixt werd, werd opnieuw een hit.
Op 15 juni 2008 werd zij gehuldigd in De Haan door honderden fans, naar aanleiding van haar 65ste verjaardag. Eind januari 2015 hebben in het Casino Kursaal in Oostende Vlaamse artiesten Marva gehuldigd, precies 35 jaar nadat ze zich uit de amusenentswereld had teruggetrokken.
Ze eindigde op nr. 359 in de Vlaamse versie van De Grootste Belg
Er wordt een aantal keer naar haar verwezen in de film Iedereen beroemd! (2000) door Dominique Deruddere. De vader noemt zijn dochter naar Marva in de hoop dat ze ooit een even succesrijke zangeres wordt. Als hij later tegen een manager vertelt dat zijn dochter Marva heet, vraagt de man sceptisch: "Marva? Is die niet dood?"
In 2010 kwam er van haar een album uit in de serie "Goud van hier" met al haar grootste hits op.
In 2012 kwam er van haar een dubbel cd uit in de reeks "Alle 40 goed" met 40 van haar mooiste liedjes op.

The lyrics to Marva's song "Domani" describe the end of a relationship that has lost its spark. The singer no longer sees any light around them and compares their remaining feelings to a small, unlit flame. They have run out of roads to travel, poems to recite, and words to speak. In this sense, they feel lost and adrift in the sea. The singer realizes they must now travel towards something they never thought they could -- the end of their relationship. Even though it may end in sorrow, they know it's time for the long, sad litany to end. The singer chooses to end things today, not wait for tomorrow, as the pain of their love is already too heavy to bear. The love that was once full of music and joy now feels like a heavy burden that's tearing them apart. The singer will be brave enough to take the step towards leaving, even if it hurts their heart.
